I've read that the term "nuisance alarm" is preferred for situations like this. The term false alarm gives the impression that the system isn't doing its job. At least that's the idea, I've never heard anyone say nuisance alarm in real life.

It can affect all dogs. Some dogs are more vocal and react to it more. Notice Ayla doesn't care. When my ex and I were still together, she had a Brittany spaniel/beagle mix, and we lived in this apartment complex that allowed dogs. It had one smoke detector in the apartment, and when that would go off, Rosie would lower her head and start whining.

Kinda interesting that photos would trigger an alarm from broiler smoke though im guessing it must have just been smoky enough. Sure brings back a lot of memories from when my parents hardwired Dicon smoke alarm would sound everytime the broiler was on but in this case the unit was ion and you could never see the smoke so my folks assumed it was the heat. Those potato wedges sure look tasty.

At my house, kitchen became really smoky, nothing happenes, we start clearing out the smoke and the smoke alarm goes off after most of the smoke was already cleared. I have fire alarm horns wired to my house's Kidde smoke alarms because we didnt feel like changing those out.

A slimar thing happened when my dad was cooking a steak/ribeye and he left the broiler on after dinner the whole first floor got Smokey and the broiler pan got ruined and our fire safety situation in our house is not the best we have really old firex smoke alarms that don’t acutally beep and a missing alarm downstairs and a single station alarm in my room and the utility room. If I could I would install a fire alarm system like yours idk if if would be notifier but I would probably use gentex commanders. Maybe when I own my own house I will do it.

You know, I actually this exact same thing happen to me the other night during Thanksgiving 2023. My mom was making our Thanksgiving dinner and the cooking smoke tripped my System Sensor 2412B, 2112-24, i3, and 2 of my flashscan protocol addressable smoke detectors. My fire alarm system went off as well as my Honeywell vista 20p system. Scared my dog beyond any sort of belief. Very easily preventable. Close all bedroom doors and dust covers on the smoke detectors prevent unwanted alarms.

We only want to use dust covers when you are doing work that would likely set off detectors you don't want to have them there regularly that will defeat the purpose of having detectors

True that. Especially if you forget to remove the dust covers. You can do like what do, put the system into a silent walk test when you are cooking. It will cause a system trouble which acts like a reminder to take it out of walk test. Every time I cook and there is a lot of smoke, like at Thanksgiving and Christmas, my adoptive family is over cooking (I was adopted by the way), I put my fire alarm system in silent walk test. Then, return the system to normal when cooking is done. But, I don't really have much of a problem with false alarms with my fire alarm system.

No, low frequency sounders are for sleeping areas therefore not outside. you would use a regular device outside and you would need a weatherproof one. they do not sell weatherproof low frequency sounders

Well, look at the bright side! At least you know the system works fine! It must have been very smoky if its enough to set off photoelectric smoke detectors. Ionization detectors would have gone off long before the photos did. Cause of how sensitive they are to tiny smoke particles.

Yeah exactly that's why I got rid of the ionization they went off all the time from the smallest amount of smoke and then when we actually had a fire nothing went off lol

The range hood is just fine not everything needs replacing sometimes humans can be the cause of problems you just have to use equipment properly accidents happen

There is a chance something did burn, but nothing looked burnt in the vid as far as I could see which is why I suggested a smoke evacuation upgrade of some sort because despite nothing looking burnt, the whole house was smoked out which revealed to me the potential for an underpowered smoke evacuation system which couldn’t keep up with the amount of smoke coming from the cooking. I’ve had some of those “Hello Fresh” meals and despite cooking them perfectly, it would smoke up my place as our evacuation system just couldn’t keep up. I’m honestly surprised our smoke alarms didnt activate with even that fact there was one outside the kitchen, and that was some good smoke as well; you could smell it all over the place. Just trying to come up with a 200IQ solution to see if the accident can be prevented next time.

@@nics-systems-electric that definitely sounds like a great possibility, and prob may be what happened. There’s many reasons why a smoke hood may not be effective from user error to even clogged hood filters and even capacity issues.

Didn't your mother have the exhaust hood on? Geee... I wish there was an easy way to integrate the fire alarm system with the exhaust hood. Hmmmmm... this is just an idea. Could put in an exhaust fan in the stairwell in your house that can be actuated by the fire alarm system.
