**NOTES/CORRECTIONS** - I mis-represented one thing on the Wind Glider Lore. The Hydro Dragon WAS the heart of the primordial sea, and Egeria was created to be the NEW heart. I think in my script I meant to write "she took the place of the new heart" and skipped a bunch of words. That was my bad. - Jaynat has pointed out that the "one who was first" might actually be the Hydro Sovereign rather than Nibelung or the Primordial One. This wasn't the impression I got when I read it, but it DOES make more sense in context. The CN characters used to refer to the "one who was first" are SLIGHTLY different from the characters used for Primordial One, so I'm not sure for right now.

I can't help but think Wriothesley and Sigewinne are a present day parallel to Vautrin and Carole. A human and mélusine duo working together, and both have Neuvillette's full trust. This parallel is never alluded anywhere but I can't help but think it's not a coincidence.

Fontaine’s background lore is quite dark and I totally love it. Also, the Fortress of Meropide really showcases the darker aspects of Steampunk.

Dark ? I say it's a more positive approach, even when it looks dark. The people there are working for most of the tech available in the city and get paid for living a better life in the fortress where they themselves chose to live A real dark aspect of steampunk is final fantasy 7. The entire planet along with most of the sectors are in very bad and polluted states due to the mako being sucked up from the planet and the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer

I personally think it's kinda funny that Fontaine needs a whole generator to elevate buildings and Ningguang needed a strong Shenhe to carry big green rock to her and she'd build a whole chamber on a floating rock. Also the black-ousia form of Furina would make sense if it was a part of Eageria, since she most likely will be considered a sinner for her actions but Furina did infact never do anything wrong, so her form is pure and white. Or it may be the whole other way around.

I don't remember the details, but the Fontaine Research Institute does mention the floating ore that Ningguang uses (plaustrite). I think it was mentioned as a part of the generator research in Fontaine. I can only assume that it's one thing to build the jade chamber around a giant rock vs trying to lift an existing city's architecture.

As far as I understood, it was more like she sacrificed herself by not putting up a resistance to the stampede of people who wanted her dead. So, less a direct suicide (bc she didn’t raise her hand on herself) and more like she hopelessly consented to her own murder. I’m not sure which scenario is darker…

You said the quest seems pointless since Wriothesley want to meet The Knave and The Knave want to go to the Meropide but it pretty much political thing. If The Knave got permission to go on her own then she would have justification to investigate Meropide secret and that would disrupt the Duke authority. What Wriothesley trying to do is to talk with the Knave on same level of standing or having an advantage over her. If Neuvilette let Arlechino go to Meropide, that would also mean Neuvilette gone beyond his authority since Meropide is Wriothesley territory. Basically it all just politics. Plus u don't let potential threat roaming around the place that have state secret. What Wriothesley want is a meeting for cooperation, what Arlechino want is justification to uncover Fontaine Secret in Meropide.

Yeah, exactly There's a difference between Neuvi allowing Arlecchino to roam meropide and Wriothesley inviting her Neuvi allowing her would grant Arlecchino the privilege of getting exploring freely, it's very much in her advantage since it would seem like the court of Fontaine is interfering with Meropide's authority for her But if Wriothesley was the one inviting her, she's gonna play by HIS terms, she'll be his guest and Lyney surmised that it would clearly be not in Arlecchino's favor Yeah, it's pretty much due to politics It's like if the king of the land allowed you to investigate a fief for your sake vs the lord of the fief inviting you for a chat

I do agree, though I think if this was better structured Neuvillete and Wriothesely would have communicated somehow? Not necessarily to order each other around but to inform on what's going on. It seems like they're on good terms they just don't want to trample on each other and have a common enemy in Father so why not have a meeting or send a message? Neuvillete has shown he can just show up with no issues in Meropide anyway and their people(Chlorinde) can move freely between the areas. So i think this was an issue with structuring the quest/gameplay rather than a writing issue. It's like they knew there would be a plothole but their hands were tied and it would mess with another part of the quest.

I also love how Wriothesley's trial is kind of a mirror to Vautrin's, since both could be considered to have brought "justice" to those they killed because of their crimes. I think it's why Neuvillette was so quiet during Wriothesley's trial. Thank you for another lovely video!

something really cool i’ve noticed for 4.2: the final act is called ‘masquerade of the guilty’ and almost everyone in fontaine wears a ‘mask’ of sorts. Furina: pretends to be all knowing, and that she has everything planned out; is really a sort of scared kid Neuvillette: hides the fact he is the hydro sovereign Arlecchino: pretends to be pleasant and ‘friendly’; while according to other harbingers (childe and scaramouche) she’s a ‘wolf in sheeps clothing’ Lyney: puts up a brave front for his siblings and other kids in the house of the hearth (freminet talks abt this in his ‘about: lyney’ voice line) Lynette: pretends to be a robot/puppet to avoid socializing (shes not) Sigewinne: puts up a kind and innocent front, but is actually highly emotionally intelligent and even says she ‘likes the feeling of being trusted’ there are probably way more examples but these are the main ones I gathered; but in the end the title of act 5 is really accurate because everyone in fontaine is guilty of wearing a ‘mask’ that hides their real selves.

To me, it seems Arlecchino is simply playing different sides, so no matter who wins, she comes out on the top(edit: you have no idea how much restraint it took not to make a "and on my face" joke here). She's always been stated to mainly do it for her personal goals, which is probably to protect her children. It's probably why she's willing to be our friend, because we've shown great friendship towards her children.

Xiao"s comment is more about how he understood the fact Diona is blessed by an oceanid more than her race, or as characters on the quest said the liyuan equivalent of the events. Also on a previous event that had Diona and Kirara meet she says they are technically related since both are cat girls, again this is another case of similar things having different local names which means to Kirara Diona is a bakeneko (probably) the inazuman equivalent of whatever she's called in Mondstad

I think that traveler also did not told Arleccino about the visions from the Vision and did not show the Vision itself, cos it still was shiny - that means the owner was alive, cos of trust, still, traveler already know that Visions are not a simple item that you can give to someone and Childe gave in trust it to traveler, so telling that Child's Vision now is in hands of another person may put Childe into quite uncomfortable position, at least from perspective of the traveler as a third party in this hoe situation. Also Arleccino may ask traveler to prove that this particular Vision belongs to Child, so whole information traveler was giving to Arleccino still be on - "Trust me, I swear" (in simple words). Also, I think Linney did not agreed to call Arlecciono on Wriothesley's terms, cos that way Arleccino may be on worst position at the table, also Wriothesley played a "bad guy', so he was not sure about motive of Wriothesley to invite his boss, Arleccino, to such a meeting, I think Arleccino will have no problems in that, but Linney looks at this situation from his perspective, it's like imagine that one CIA agent goes into troubles and calls CIA's Directior to negotiations, Arleccino works her own way behind the scenes too, but that was Linney's team mission, so he refuses such invitation on Wriothesley's terms, also he was quite an emotional and in game there was told, even Arleccino mentioned that, that he can go sometimes emotional and he needs to trust others sometimes.

I think Furina is trying to rebel against fate (the heavenly principles), which is why she can't explain it or say it. She's trying to fool/decieve fate, but to make her nation avoid with what happened to Khanreiah she has to keep it secret, which is really lonely and isolating for her. It'd be interesting if the traveller would be involved in this, since if the loom of fate is held by Celestia, would the Traveller be affected by it if they are not from Tevyat? If that's true then the Traveller's role in this is for Furina to "use" them to deceive the heavenly principles or fate. According to Furina, fate does not deceive you unless you deceive fate itself (yet I still lost every 50/50), so in the trial against Lyney to power up the oratrice she really tried to convict him not because she was convinced, but because she thought he would impede her plan. Yet, when the traveller defied her expectations and found the truth she realized that fate could be altered, and that she was fooled by fate. She has to pretend to be an archon for her people but if she really is an oceanid it would be really interesting to see if some of that water or consciousness is in the oratrice too. The oratrice is her justice side, it'dbe interesting of why it always seeks out the truth, but when Childe got convicted that was when Furina took control of that part of her consciousness because she realized she needed to execute her plan soon. Mini-theory but pneuma/ousia could be the first elements before even the seven sovereigns, from he primordial sea or at least in that area because of the water leaking and cracking out of Fontaine, and with how mechanically developed Fontaine is, it's interesting to me how the abyss was formed with abyssal power, while Fontaine uses pneuma/ousia. And what happens if pneuma/ousia energy is taken and used outside of Fontaine? (I am high right now)

If the theory about dragons giving out visions is true then the traveller resonating with childes vision is very interesting since their abilities are also somewhat connected to their respective elemental sovereigns, maybe just maybe the dragons or the dragon King himself allowed the traveller to peak into childes conscience and help them directly or indirectly, maybe the dragons do have a strategy going on, I don't know maybe I'm just rambling here interesting nonetheless, also I think ashikai hit the nail with the dragon vision theory as she mentioned the travellers tornado resembling Davalins , their geo constructs resembling Azdahas more so then they do Zhonglis , we never got to see the electro dragon , Apap I don't remember very well , and then we have a playable hydro dragon in a human form using their abilities the way someone in a human form would use , the pattern here is too clear to be a coincidence but hay one in game line is all it takes for it all to fall apart but still

Actually the whole mystery of "where is the hydro Gnosis?" Made me think about The Heart of Naberius that Rhinedottir and Albedo found in the past. That made me look up the demon and it's funny that it's appearance is that of the three headed dog (or a raven). I thought that it might be original demon name of Egeria, but as much as I want it to be, somehow doesn't feel right. I've just assumed that when a beast learns the adeptal arts and become blessed by morax, the "illumination" becomes part of their biology almost? So thats why ppl like cloud retainer had to learn the arts to become an adepti while ganyu and yanfei were already born as half adepti. And also for xiao's comment on diona, i think its cuz she was blessed by an oceanid. I mean, both adepti and oceanids were created by morax and egaria respectively. So i suppose adepti blessings and oceanid blessings are pretty similar in nature, at least in the aspect that they're both from divine sources.

This is what i concluded with the situation between wrio and arle 1. Wrio would reject Arle at first simply because he knows Arle will not nesscesary tell the truth (+ fatui sends goons) 2. Okay, but I don't know if the archon quests after 4.3 are gonna be in fontaine. I'm speculating.. 4.3: Cleaning up flood damages 4.4: Liyue expansion + Lantern Rite 4.5: Mondstadt expansion + Windblume Festival 4.6: Dainsleif stuff (4.7: I don't know if there's going to be anything here other than gameplay additions - if there's lore, it might be in fontaine or sumeru) 4.8: Summer event (Probably going to be in Sumeru Desert or West of Romartime Harbor given the fact that Natlan is speculated to be west of Sumeru Desert) I might be wrong on all of this but it's just my thoughts!

In my opinion, Furina isn't an oceanid, checked it with the elemental sight in 4.1. BUT Focalors she is an oceanid and has the master plan and the sin and the authority. With the trial of Furina judging Focalors, Focalors will give back the elemental authority of water to Neuvillete with her sacrifice, Neuvillete would save Fontaine and undo the curse of dissolving people, and Furina will be freed from Focalors being a mere mortal with a hydro vision without the responsibilities of Mermornia Palace. Aaaaand the Hydro Tulpa description uses a lot the words "hydro humans", is a little Rene sus.

you can check venti with the elemental sight and he will turn out gray too, even though he is a pure anemo being i dont think the elemental sight is fully accurate

Thank you for this. The 4.2 showcase kindof has a recap, but they go into events that happen in Poisson, and I think that is the beginning of the 4.2 questline, but they were a little vague, so I was panicking a little that there was an entire section of the Archon quest that I missed.

What if natlan is full of tribes like desert part of sumeru, and as we "haven't seen natlan people before", well maybe we have because they're treasure hoarders because what enemies are everywhere? fatui, as they're on their different missions or whatever from snezhnaya slimes, as they're just condensed elemental life forms hilichurls, as they're from khaenriah and for some reason treasure hoarders that's why i think it'd make sense if they're also from one certain nation like fatui or hilichurls, and from natlan because it's the only one left without known characters

it was already somewhat soft-confirmed ingame as well as mostly(?) agreed upon by the lore/theory community for a while now, so it probably wasn't considered a significant enough revelation to bring much attention to in the video I assume? especially as it's pretty late in the patch and most people should be aware already. moreover Ashikai did make a theory video about a missing harbinger some time back - there's likely just not that much more to say about it currently until we get more information beyond the fact that one does exist

What if that’s a clue that Celestia knows that the hydro archon will give up her thron. Just a fleeting thought in the tide, but what if Celestia knew? They allowed Forcalor to sacrifice herself for her people due to already having a plan to take care of the hydro dragon. They’ve written it into the stars. Celestia also supposedly makes all the constellations so they’d have an idea of what the future may hold.
