I dont think her shenanigans go completely beyond, as she had yet to keep her archon status proper in the eyes of the people or she would really just look like a clown. She even had to handle overall matters of trials and kept tabs on the prophecy. She did well in her duties and even as a masquerade, considering she wasnt even an archon in the first place.

I meant Focalors was the one who invited Neuvillette to come to Fontaine and be their judge but i think it's safe to say that it is Furina who is guiding him to live in the human society this entire time. In both his story quest and the teaser, we can clearly hear a much softer and soothing voice of Furina instead of the deep yet mature voice of Focalors. She clearly was there with him from the very beginning while Focalors was busy preparing for her plans in the machine. I bet Focalors already knew Furina humanity can potentially help Neuvillette fit in and understand human emotions throughout his time in Fontaine, which is why she decided to leave all of that to Furina and trusted that "herself" can fulfill her duty as the "Hydro Archon" while gilding him at the same time.

Focalors literally tricked furina into having to pretend as an archon for 500 years, making sure people don't doubt her as an archon. If I may repeat my point again; furina is a "Human" that is immortal. She has a fragile human mind and having to be an actress for 500 years is very damaging to her. Furina also tried her best in researching about the prophecy to save her "people".

Even if she had the Archon's powers (and she did not), killing an Archon only means the title goes to another (possibly chosen by Celestia if the Archon doesn't have a designated successor?). For Neuvillette to regain his full authority, Focalors plan to build a giant god-killer device powered by faith for 500 years was a necessary step. Anything less wouldn't have destroyed the Archon title, only the bearer.
