I always find that Aether being more defensive. His stance pose, his blade placement.. and wherever he goes, he always look around, keeping awareness to the surrounding. While Lumine was total opposite. She's more offensive. Her stance and blade placement always indicating that she's preparing to strike. But she's weaker in defense, as we always see she holds her chest/ stomach longer than Aether indicating that she took longer time to recover. I guess when they're together, Lumine was the one to strike while Aether cover her blindspots, as their attack pattern always cover each other's vulnerable spot. Also Lumine has more charged attack scaling while Aether has more base hp and def. Imagine how vulnerable you're being separated like that. Not mentioning being nerfed to the ground.

@@Succubus_L0li they were referring to the specific super obvious differences like lumine using 2 hands to get up while aether used only 1 during the scaramouche fight cutscene. also, for some of the parts where the animation is exactly the same, like in the combat scenes, they just model swap the travelers for a lot of it, which we know for a fact cuz there used to be a bug where sometimes a cutscene would show aether instead of lumine for a split second for lumine players back in the 2.x series of updates. idk if that bug still happens since I haven't heard anyone talk about the bug since, and I have aether.

⁠​⁠​⁠@@Succubus_L0li so I’m going to be the um actually guy here but they don’t animate it twice at least not from scratch for the moments when the twins have the same/ almost same animation. For animation in 3d models what makes it be able to move is a skeleton and the model is just rigged to it with the ability to change what model it’s attached to. That’s how mods that change characters into another and why things like clipping happens because it’s animation meant for a drastically different model.

@@liaselleaeri ​ at 0:17 you can see the rocks in the background being slightly different shade and lumine's side is slightly more blurry while aether's side is more crips. This is the same throughout the video. at 1:34 you can see similar things with the pavement in the background, and the colors being slightly off on Amber (her hair and skin). In the first timestamp it could be due to ingame time, because those cutscenes are rendered in the overworld directly. That's why the clouds are different for example. But in the second timestamp that is a pre-rendered cutscene, so every model should be identical. The reason they are not is because of device settings, or possibly even just recording software being different. Clear signs of two different machines being used. I also just noticed that Amber is wearing a different outfit between the takes, so only her skin and hair should be taken into account, not her clothing. but hey, i'm not saying that Aether and Lumine's anemo actually is same colors, just saying that in this video it's not clear because of different devices being used to capture footage.

Yeah and I think Aether uses one hand to fight with his sword and use his geo skill while lumine uses one hand to fight with her sword and the other hand to use her geo skill. In their geo bursts, Aether punches the ground while lumine stomps the ground. There's even a difference with their anemo bursts.

I really like how their movements are different in certain scenes. It further emphasises that, although they are the male and female player characters, they are also both their own individual characters! That is one thing I really love about Genshin Impact! The player characters arent just gender flips of each other! Both of them are actual canon characters with their own names and personalities, regardless of which one you pick!

I don’t know why but in the we will be reunited cutscene I noticed that the abyss twin’s facial expressions are like- idk different??? It may just be their models face structure but while Aether looked bittersweet and kind of hesitant, Lumine looked distant like she’s reliving a memory. It may not say much but to me it explains their personal personalities so well. Even though we can only speculate it seems as if Lumine is much more headstrong, determined as she looks back at the past without frowning or smiling, since it’s the past to her. While Aether feels more emotionally inclined, he looks at the past compared to the future and feels bittersweet. Anyway thanks for listening to this spiel, I play as Aether so it’s cool seeing Lumine’s side of things. One point I noticed immediately (it was why I picked her) was that Lumine had her sword in the left hand when they were together at the beginning. Despite switching her sword to the right hand since, the various combat animations make it clear she's far closer to ambidextrous, preferring her left hand for "spellcasting" where Aether prefers to momentarily free up his right. While the developers not creating separate Hydro Bursts (there are potential problems with making the "water ball" spin in different directions)) leaves me doubtful, it's still possible that Aether's professed favoritism for Pyro and Lumine's for Cryo (it's in their voice line banks) may differentiate their later kits.

I don't demand left-handed characters, and I don't always play one if one's available, I do not believe it's realistic in anything too based on our world for there to be a lot of them around (there are good reasons it'll be a steady 5-15% of any human population; even in a fantasy or sci-fi setting altering this it's far more likely that minority will just get flipped than that it'll go closer to even), I can accept that even in a lot of games with character customization there can be technical problems with allowing that particular option. (Not usually in MMOs, the Matrix Online being an notable exception.) I'm not an activist, and don't think this is worth activism. (Being left-handed does in fact provably screw you over to the extent of statistically reducing your life span, but any fixes would prove worse than the problem.) That said, at the start of playing the game - and I went in pretty much blind since I knew since the game's release I'd want to play it at some point and see how exactly gacha mechanics and game balancing combined with open-world gameplay - it was as good a reason as any to choose. While it turns out the few differences in personality are ones where I'd appreciate Lumine's viewpoint more, I didn't know that at the time. Hoping that the main story will ultimately be followed by a NG+ mode in which both twins will be available and we can replay huge chunks of the main game and events.

That was fun to watch! There're also other subtle differences, right now I can remember for example their voicelines, where Lumine says she likes Cryo slimes (something about them being useful in summer) and Aether prefers Pyro slimes (you'd need them in winter). Or the way they hold on Kaeya's hand in his hangout. Also I think there's a difference how they react during Childe's transformation in Fontaine's court ^^

I agree with that, but i also think that there's a biological factor to consider too. Female pelvises are structured in a way that allows for the legs to be more close together, compared to male pelvises whose structures make it so that the legs are more opened

Also there are a few differences, such as the Traveler reaching out for Dvalin’s tear, which is attributed to them using Aether’s model as a base. He’s a bigger person so his hand is under the tear while Lumine’s is not. This also happens in the Inazuma sword dueling event where Ayaka points to Aether’s heart when making her little speech but ends up pointing at Lumine’s throat.

it’ basically showing general differences between two genders, some aren’t necessarily “styles”, from the postures to range of movement, it actually depicts mechanical restrictions and implies differences in bone structure, weight distribution, even the factor of “balls” in the way they sit there’s also the behaviors which goes into biopsych territory, Aether moves with heavier arms and interacts with the world more(basically his upper body moves more “free-er”), while Lumine moves more delicately and somewhat “defensive”, she’s often with lifted-hands in tense or anxious situations(instinctual stance to protect the chest which for girls is more vulnerable) pretty good job with these little details

They don’t copy and paste exactly. They make the movements for Lumine and insert her where Aether is. It’s why the model is sometimes off, like when reaching for Dvalin’s tear, since Aether is a bigger person than Lumine.

As an Aether user, I still prefer him. I love Lumine sooo so much, but Aether fits to the traveler hero and his little girlie pop companion so much better. The way he's brave but careful, and do anything without hesitation fits better on a traveler. Also, Lumine is SUCH A GOOD EVIL PRINCESS LIKE DAMNN the way her eyes are so careless fits her better. AND her sword is more badass as a "villain". I always liked how Aether was a friend with everyone when they just met. He's so friendly and still serious. If you look at their charge atk,Lumine does more dmg, and by looking at the poses at 5:23, Lumine is more of a attacker while Aether is the defender (Maybe you already covered that)

Basically what I can tell is much like the slight difference in their fighting stats, Aether is the shield and Lumine is the sword. They also have opposing dominant hands when they fight. They both look around a lot just Lumine does it with her eyes rather than her whole body which also tracks, physical movement would give away where she’s looking in fights and make it easier to predict her movements, Aether being a shield he basically needs to be shielding everywhere he looks. Aether gives off the impression that he just refuses to be overtly distrustful, he trusts in himself that he can manage whatever happens regardless of the outcome. Lumine on the other hand seems to overtly distrust when given a reason but will play along with whatever the situation may be. (In a Fontaine world quest it’s confirmed that lumine behaves this way idk about Aether I don’t play as him) She just seems generally less surprised by betrayals than Aether.

What I love about gnsn is that they add subtle differences between the twins. At first i thought that Lumine and Aether wont have differences so they will be just like the same person but different genders type of MC. But I slowly realized that they have subtle difference and it doesnt only happen like thrice. And it makes me appreciate both MCs as their own character instead. And I can tell that hoyo has always intended Aether as the canonical MC protagonist and Lumine the canonical Antagonist. And I cant help but cry at the 4.7 dain quest, I can feel how much Aether misses Lumine and I know Lumine misses him as much. It's so depressing yet heartwarming. AND LETS NOT FORGET THE DREAM SCENE IN XIANYUN'S QUEST...I BAWLED SO HARD...and Nahida's bday scene punched my face hard with that dream scene too....

Some things I notice at start of game, both Traveler is quite different by attitude and, traits maybe? Aether seems to looking around more, shows that he's more observant on surrounding than Lumine, clearly he's the older sibling, as JP and KOR dub said Lumine that seems hesitant to touch the statue also shows that she's, well, not used to be on her own, maybe, like she used to have Aether to make sure everything is safe, so now that she's on her own, she's having more time to adapt with her surrounding Aether seems to have stronger arms, while Lumine have stronger legs. I think we all know about it now Sitting position, napping position, and running position is just showing that they're male and female, I like that HYV keep it around in each scene, a little things to differentiate them Now overtime, their difference is seems to dissipate one by one (except the fact they're male and female), but Xianyun's story quest kinda point us out again that Lumine is the younger sister. Because the fact that she's immediately break down and run into her brother (in dream ofc), kinda shows that she's missing him too much, whereas Aether is still trying to keep his cool (he break down eventually) I'm a Lumine player myself, I really love her that I actually build my Lumine as strong as I can, and keep her around team (at least now in story or just for immersion, but she's basically ready and not benched). Seeing this video, I kinda like how the character development goes for her. From the usual backseater that used to have his brother to look everything for her, to completely her own, staying strong and also observant to everything while keep caring to everyone like a princess she should be

i interpret it as lumine being headstrong and focused, keeping her mind on the objective and ignoring all distractions, while aether is more defensive and cautious and observes his surroundings. it kinda shows in their battle stances, aether is slightly hunched and holding his sword straight down while lumine stands tall and holds it an an angle like she's prepared to attack. in a different cutscene aether is also shown holding his sword in a "block" pose while lumine is swinging it like she's attacking i think that's why they work best together, aether is observant and watches for his surroundings while lumine is focused and keeps them on the right path

I do disagree that Aether is not the older brother (surprisingly). If you do listen to the story told by Venti, ‘Once there was a glorious kingdom established among the heavens…’ we see Lumine has the first crowned heir which means she’s older. And then it says she was deceived when trying to find a pearl from the kingdom of darkness and now believed that she is the queen of kingdom of darkness. Then in the cutscene right after, ‘But take heart, the second crowned heir had already taken up the path were the first had stumbled’ shows Aether which means he’s the younger twin and the actual protagonist. Also, in all the banners or posters and whatever for the story quest like Mondstadt and Liyue, it’s of Aether and Lumine (No hate to you. Just wanted you to know that fact. Have a great day!)

Second, Lumine addresses Aether as older brother in Jp, Kn and Cn dubs, and Aether calls her "younger sister". English doesn't have a similarly common way of address to indicate who's older (saying "give my *older* brother back would sound very unnatural), so this is lost in translation

Another difference I found during Childe's first appearance at 2:14 is that Lumine completely lets her defenses down when she hears Tartaglia call her. We can see that her left hand, which was about to strike, is lowered to her side. Meanwhile, Aether keeps his fighting posture even after hearing Tartaglia.

And also fun fact The hair that sticjs out of Aether's head is called an "ahoge hair" or follosh hair It holds soo much expression of a characters personality, And characters that don't have that hair, are tend to be more serious. That is why lumine always confronts opponents/obstacles in more serious manner than Aether. and the reason for why she is hesitant when she first touch a statue of the seven and first confronting childe. and also the reason for why she has far higher attack speed and charge attack stats. As for Aether who has the "ahoge hair" he is less serious on confronting opponents compare to lumine, and much more cautious on his surroundings rather than his opponents and was quick to trust childe. This also applies to all characters in-game and anime characters in general.

Aether is the defender of the team, he uses defensive stances while fightting and always scouts his surroundings. Lumine is the attacker of the team, she uses an attacking stance and lokks straight forward towards the objective. As a result lumine can be seen more insecure in certain scenarios because she doesn't have her defender along side her, while aether appears more brave because he dosn't have anyone to protect anymore and can just focus on fighting
