Jackie and Shadows live camera play on my Google nest kitchen counter screen and when I hear them flying in and calling it’s like they are family here visiting …If you knew my adult kids , they are better than family .. Animals fill your day with love too , our Furbabies have and watching Jackie and shadow bring a smile and joy to our day . In a world that is so disconnected even all of us watching and sharing our comments unifies us in someway through nature. I think of how this beautiful camera can touch the lives of so many , young children learning about the fun to be had by just getting out into nature and I’ve seen people that I love struggle, emotionally and physically with the hardships of aging and watching Jackie and shadow could bring joy into their home and be so positive in many ways in their life …I hope we all soar higher watching them 🦅♥️🦅

In humans, too, it Is sad when the mother makes so many sacrifices to try to have a viable birth but she miscarries anyway-- that's very sad. Such women mourn the great loss. Thank you Sandy for this recent update, as always so thoughtfully described for us. I couldn’t see the ants, so the explanation certainly helped. It was nearly impossible not to feel the same loss Jackie and Shadow are feeling, I’m praying they don’t feel quite as defeated as it appeared when Shadow was working on pest removal from their expanse, yet prematurely empty nest. As some have commented previously, nature is beautiful, replete with hope and at times it is harsh and unforgiving, such as life itself. We will look forward to any glimpse you can provide as our favorite couple visits off-season and we will certainly wait with bated breath for next season. I am confident this loving couple will be a complete family again, just as we all anticipate better days ahead and much to look forward to in our own lives. Until then, virtual hugs to all. 💕🦅🫶🏻

I was reading about eagle nests and was surprised to see that they weigh about a thousand pounds, so Shadow and Jackie hauled a lot of sticks up for the nest, really hard working glorious birds. 💚☮️🙏🌞

Right! I’m pretty sure it’s a federal offense to keep even a single eagle feather if found somewhere. All found parts must be turned into a specific (don’t know its title) government entity to be placed in a vault for the Native Americans to use in ceremonies and such.

Hello! Females are usually 30% larger than males. If you are speaking in regards to Jackie and Shadow, there are a few differences. Jackie has a longer and larger beak. Her head is more flat. Shadow’s head is round.

The FS put out a release yesterday that the area will remained closed through July 31. That was the original date but I would have expected them to change it. I hike Grays Peak a ton when it's open and I'm kind of bummed. You can still get there it's just much longer hike. I'm cool with it but if they're taking that so seriously I don't get the proposal to remove trees with controlled burns and build a freaking e bike trail up there. I've always a good relationship with the Forest Services where I've lived but I think the Mountaintop Ranger District is wildly inefficient and driven by something different than what they should be.

Hello! Jackie and Shadow have used this best for several years now. Usually, eagles are very loyal to their nests. Since it is the wild, there is always a possibility they could switch nests in the future, but historically, they have reused this one.

Hello! We do not know how much their nest weighs specifically. Eagle nests can weigh up to a ton. The largest nest recorded was 9 feet wide and 20 feet deep. We currently do not want to disturb their nest or natural habitat as much as possible. We are observers in Jackie and Shadow’s lives currently. In addition, the nest is in a National Forest. All adjustments or interactions with the nest have to be approved through them because they have the final say in anything that happens in that area.

Jackie has only laid a second clutch one time. That was when she laid the first clutch really early in January and then laid the second clutch in March. It is unlikely that they would lay more eggs this season since Jackie usually lays eggs from January to March. We cannot know for sure so we just have to sit and watch.
