Tug of Conellia! I love it! They love having Conellia as part of the decor, it is truly a special yearly ritual. Shadow absolutely adores her, always wants to be close and under her, so so devoted. These two are definitely one, Soul mates and I thank God for them!

Shadow (I think ❤) gently moving Coneilia at the 02:00 mark: ' Got you in just right... ' Part of me is a little worried about the lack of fluff, but Jackie and Shadow have broken these branches down into mulch-sized pieces, so they may be fine without the fluff 🦅 Praying for eggs 🥚 and chicks 🐥🐤 for this beautiful couple!

S coming in 'round Robin's barn Route ' to Nest --but without any Avionics special moves like topping the Simba Limb while hitting one end of a carried Stick at some point on the straight up portions . Not much of that in recent flights inbound.. " Tug-of-Coneilia" meaning escapes my understanding. Never heard it before ? Thanks Cali for a typical fly in by our E Pair.. Always a thrill to see them come in in various ways and directions!

‘Coneilia’ is the name the FOBBV fan community voted on for the pine cone that’s been sitting in the nest since October.
@melmasi5098Күн бұрын
What @cannedkitty said. Plus, it's a play on the common saying "tug of war" because they are fiercely possessive of silly cone Coneilia!😂

Winter or not, they are built for that. It's up to them to take care of the young properly. Hopefully she lays a fertilized and viable egg or eggs. Hopefully this year will work out.

I wonder if they are getting pinenuts out of that pinecone??
@kimers12660Күн бұрын
That’s what I’ve been thinking 💭
@LaurieFloodTeacherКүн бұрын
@@kimers12660 I'll third that. Jackie yanks her head from side to side with the pine cone in her mouth. That seems to be enough to open the pine cone for the nuts to be accessible in that particular part. I'm thinking it's supplementary food for long incubation times in the snow. I'm not sure if she got the idea by watching the squirrels, or if she figured it out by accidentally chewing on a pine nut when she aerated the nest. She continues to show us that she is a very smart bird.

S+J's 1st year together, Shadow began placing a pinecone in the nest. Jackie disliked it and would toss it overboard - Shadow would retrieve it or find another one :) I think it was the next year she began accepting it I've also thought - maybe it could ward off predators - if a snake tried to bite it, it would soon realize to stay away. Just my thoughts. Take Care - Stephanie

I wonder what makes the camera go black & white? 🤔
@AngelaS-v2qКүн бұрын
It is the infrared light which comes on at dusk (sometimes you may see a slight flash when this happens), and then night vision kicks in. It is not visible light to humans or eagles (or other warm blooded creatures) but is only visible to the camera lens which allows us to see the nest at night.

@AngelaS-v2qКүн бұрын
Jackie brought this pinecone to the nest on Oct 20th. Usually they drop from the canopy above the nest. In the past, both her and Shadow have de-coned it while sitting in the nest, and the small bits stay in the nest bowl. They've brought in pinecones in the past but it is not something they usually do. Last year we had an abundance of pinecones at one time that dropped in from above and it was fascinating watching it get moved around the nest. It doesn't deter them from anything at all and they even step on it at times.
@robynperdieu3434Күн бұрын
I've watched Jacqueline lie on it like an egg, so I think it's kind of a tool to get the nest just right for the eggs.
