I have 3 fully built MX4s. Oil changes are a breeze, 10 minutes tops. I love the gearbox because it's so quiet and reliable. I get 25-30 miles from a stock battery riding woods/trails and 50 miles in ECO when riding easy on the street. The range on the MX5 is no worse and no better, which is great because it has 50% more power than the MX4. Better brakes and stock regen are welcome additions. The weak brakes (even when fully upgraded) are the worst part of the MX4. I use regen a lot on my X-9000 equipped bike. It does save your brake pads but it wears on the chain and sprocket. It won't get you any extra range, there just isn't enough mass to generate significant energy. Overall I think the MX5 is a nice upgrade from the MX4. The headset is still the weak point. I have to adjust mine frequently. The head bearings just aren't large enough for tough woods riding. My next bike will be something larger like a Dragon or Ultra Bee, but I'm going to ride the shit out of my MX4s for a couple of years first.

How much do you weight? I want to get the MX5 eventually but hopefully they come out with a bigger battery. I saw a recent video about the range from talaria boys KZbin channel and they got around that range but I figured with moderate riding around street and some trials I could hopefully get close to 35-40ish miles. Maybe not maxing out the speed all the time but crusing on the streets at like 40ish mph
@MoxyDave3 ай бұрын
@@brennerborec3422 I'm 220 lbs with all my gear. I think 30 miles is doable for easy riding, but I have the throttle pinned most of the time so I get 25 miles. Also I try not to run the battery down to under 25% because the power drops off so dramatically it just isn't fun anymore. So 25 miles range from 100% to 25% with the throttle pinned most of the time ... MX5 should be similar, maybe a little less due to the extra weight.

When i first got into ebikes a year ago i felt that the oil changes for Talarias were a HUGE deal breaker. But i learned that after the initial 200 mile break in oil change, the next one isn't for another 5k miles which is a loooong ways away. So it's not like your find oil changes every month. I ordered the mx5 right as it became available this morning, and super excited as this is going to be my first mid drive style ebike. My other 2 bikes are a heavily modded super73 and a boutique Eroy ARC HERO, both hub drives with low torque. So I'm looking forward to the middrive torque.

U get the mx5 yet?
@Seijuro8083 ай бұрын
@hustlasstory7611 not yet. I'll be pretty late to the party since I live in Hawaii and it had to be shipped to me by boat due to strict battery laws, and takes at least a couple weeks. I hope it comes with the safer Greenway battery so I don't have to deal with shipping or all the way back to get it replaced with their recall.
@rickystafford74333 ай бұрын
It might be slightly heavier but it's still closer to the E-Ride in weight than the Ultra Bee. Plus those upgrades are pretty significant, although I wish they would've put beefier tires on it stock since it's already a bigger boi. So a little less money for technically a better bike...can't complain really. I got my Mantis X though and I really like it. Only thing I don't like is the inaccurate odometer because now it's going to be harder to keep up with oil changes.

When is mx6 coming out because the new e ride 3.0 has a 74v 50ah battery vs the talarias 74v 40ah so about 3kw vs 3.7kw of battery capacity, at 30wh per km casual riding on the street you could get up to 120km range and about 80km range ripping the throttle. Let talaria cook and buy the mx6 when it comes eventually

Yes. "For the first time in a Talaria eBike, they have upgraded the system voltage from 60V to 72V. This allows for increased torque, increased speed, and cooler motor operation. The battery is 40Ah 72v (2880 Watt hours) constructed with high performance Samsung 50s 21700 (5000mah) cells "

I understand the weight is more than the MX4 but the dimensions seem to be the same 73” length (also ground clearance and seat height are the same) how is this a bigger bike? Do you mean heavier?
@Bengy223 ай бұрын
Yeah I think he means weight. Size wise the only difference is they increase fork travel to 220mm. Previously the eride was the larger bike so should be similar if not smaller still. Weight though is high but can be explained by the gearbox, new suspension, new wheels, frame and new brakes. I personally don't mind a slightly heavier bike for that trade off

Forget Taleria! Go with the Xion CyberX. Fully Customizable for just a bit more loot.....Udig Me!?!?!?¿?¿!?!?!?!? I went with the XL, yes it comes multiple sizes, and my bike weighs 210lbs. MX 4 piston Clipper brakes, 60 tooth sprocket, no need to fill with oil nor oil change, mid-drive motor 72V50A battery. Went with the all black Mag Wheels coupled with wheel lights. At night I look like Tron blasting down the Avenue. Purple Acrylic panels with LED LIGHTS (TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE SEE ME AT NIGHT), large square headlight (High and Low Beam), MX inspired suspension, and in the area I reside; due to this joint have a headlight, taillight, and blinkers--No Vehicle Ownership responsibility. Street Legal. Also, Power Lithium has created a Battery Modality Specifically for the CyberX that pretty Much Jail Breaks this thang with out having to go through a tuning process. CyberX!

So here's the problem with these e-moto/e-moped scene. Laws. These things are less and less in the "grey area" more and more every day. Not even the new Spark Cycleworks Javelin or Brute have a vin that can be used to register it as a motorcycle. E-bike laws are more and more about the "people for bikes" PAC definition of the class system which is all firmly rooted in 48v/750W powertrain. So these things aren't ebikes and I promise you, if you blow past a cop doing 45 with no plates you're getting pulled over and that near $5000 thing impounded. What confuses me most though, is the perfect bike that is about that height (30ish inches seat height) with all motorcycle grade parts exists. It's called a Honda Grom. For $3200 bucks brand new it will do 65 mph and gets 140-160 mpg bone stock. Put what you'd spend on a good battery from Powerful Lithium or Chi Systems (roughly $1500) and you can have a fully built Grom with aftermarket go fast parts and upgraded suspension that will do near 80 mph, still gets over 100 mpg, and you can ride it past cops doing 70 on the highway and a cop wont even look twice at you because you have plates, registration, and insurance (and no ebike insurance company is even going to consider letting you protect your investment with insurance since these things are un-insurable). I just don't understand who these e-moto things are for. Their electric "gas tank" gets smaller the more you use it and their reliability and warranty network is basically non-existant. If you like these sorts of things. Be smart about it. Dont' buy an e-moto. Go get your motorcycle endorsement (if a toothless Harley rider can figure it out, you can too), go buy a Grom, and have the most fun you can have on two wheels.
