Change your speedo gear . They literally cost a few bucks. If you have NO speedo gear , then by a universal speedo recalibration unit from 12 o'clock labs ( 80 bucks ) . And wire it into your harness. Both options are crazy simple.

You can change the gear ratio in your flash tool as well to keep your speedometer on without messing with tire size. You want the tire size to be accurate to make sure your mileage is reading correctly. So if you have 35s that measure to 34 1/2 you wanna have it set to that and set your gear ratio in the flash to 4.88

They put a lot of work into those to run the highway at 80+ mph on break in (Especially 4.88, it's harder on the pinion (spins faster) the higher numerically you go) .....Just sayin.... you'll prolly be fine but the gears we're prolly sayin' "REALLY!?, this is how its gonna go?....I'll TRY to hang in there!"

I was told that 4.88 with 35s will kill your tip end speed. I live in California where everyone does 80mph on the freeway. Would a 2017 jeep JK sport be able to cruise at 80mph with 4.88 on 35s?

YJs ran from 1986-1995 i believe...Check to see, but you should have dana 30 front and dana 35 rear and if that is the case you should be able to do 4.88s. I know you can in a 94 YJ... I hope that helped.

@stevenjwebber4 жыл бұрын
2013 has updated motor and trans from Jacked 2 jeeps setup which is the 3.8 motor. The 3.6 motor in your jeep doesn't need as much gear. A 4.88 gear set with a 3.6 and 35's which are probably 34.25" (new) will be about 2800 rpms. (Measure on the jeep, ground to axle, multiplied by 2) if RPM's are really 2900, you might have really worn tires or a slipping torque convertor. At any rate, 4.88 is too much gear for 35s on that motor unless your build is mainly off road and no freeway driving. think about getting much larger tires or get those gears dropped down to 4.10. at the most 4.56. Very surprised the shop that installed those didn't bring that up? they should know better.
