Hello, I'm regearing my 2007 JKU and after pulling off the rear differential cover I discovered the bearing caps are on the wrong side, and upside-down. When I bought the jeep in 2010 it had only 9900 miles on it and it was a dealership fleet vehicle. It looked brand new inside and out. The dealer never mentioned any repairs and the gear ratio matches what the build sheet indicates. It seems unlikely any work was done on it before I bought it. Is it possible the caps were installed wrong in the factory? When I reassemble the differential after changing the gears should I put the caps on the same way they are now or should I put them on as the marks show?

3.73 to 4.56 you shouldn't have to change the carrier. Carriers geared higher than 3.73 from the factory would need to be changed.

@shannonshull69897 ай бұрын
I have 4.88 in my JK D30/D44 on 35s and its sweet (on and off road). 4.56 is good for 35s too, but if youre pulling big hills/mountains OR you think you may move up to 37s, the 4.88s are the way to go but in a D30, thats the largest you can go due to ring gear / diff housing clearance.

Do you ever get noisy gears from yukon (4.88) if set up correctly? I'm hearing they r noisy. I have a set I'm ready to install but not certain now
@yukongearandaxle3 жыл бұрын
All aftermarket gear sets tend to make a very slight amount more noise than an OEM gear set, this is a trade off of the change in tooth profile. you compromise a very small amount of nose in order to see a gain in strength.
@boatsandjeeps7803 жыл бұрын
@@yukongearandaxle thanks for the response, friend of mine installed some 4.88s in his of a different brand and they are quite , so if it's guaranteed the yukon will make some sort of noise then I'll just return them. Not all gears make noise , I ride with lots of jeeps with gear swaps and they don't complain about noise
@guspyeatt68033 жыл бұрын
@@boatsandjeeps780 when after market gears are said to " make noise" it should not be an objectionable noise, it would be more akin to a stock tire vs an all terrain tire, very subtle, and not noticeable by most people in most cases . when most people think of " making noise " they are referring to the wineing sound caused by an improperly set up gear set, this can occur with any gear set, even an OEM set.

What would the overall opinion be regarding the Yukon Ring and Pinion compared say to the G2 or Revolution Ring And Pinion for gearing upgrade on a Jeep JK?
@yukongearandaxle3 жыл бұрын
Yukon are the premium aftermarket gears, our proprietary metallurgy, heat treatment process, and tooth profiles result in a gear set that is not only stronger, but also runs cooler and quieter. We are the only aftermarket manufacturer that has full control over our product right from the raw materials, thru forcing, machining heat treatment down all the way to the consumer.
