Hi! Thank you for making this series of video. It really helps for my thesis. I have a question, btw. I have Office 2010 (32 bit) in my Windows 2007 (64 bit) -- well some technician reinstalled my Windows and upgraded it to 64 without my permission -- which makes me have to download Ms. Access 2010 Runtime instead of the 2013 version (32 bit). But after I finished installing, there is no "Microsoft Access (Microsoft Access Database Engine" or something like that in my data source. Would you tell me if there is something I miss? Thank you!

hi steve im wondering after migrating the access data, if the user used the forms to add data, will it be migrated directly to SQL database?
@richardlbutler42875 жыл бұрын
You probably are aware that Access applications that ran previously without issue started crashing when being run on Windows 10 build 1803 machines (see DevHut blog) around June of this year. MS has issued a workaround which suggests disabling LeasingLock on the server housing the back-end. Clients are reluctant to do this apparently because it degrades network performance. Another suggestion is that the back-end should be ported to SQL Server. Pleas from developers to Microsoft asking for some action on this issue have fallen on deaf ears. Can you share your perspective and suggest what is the best way to deal with this?

I'm limited to Access 2010 at work. Can I apply these techniques to that version? I downloaded the Access Runtime 2010 version and will give it a go, but if I'd be wasting my time, i.e. the procedures are different than with 2013 discussed here, I won't pursue it.

Yes they work in 2010 as well.

Hi Steve, I want to thank you for all your great video tutorials and can help me a lot. I have questions for you, how can i change the datatype date permanently because its showing in my forms like this(2017-05-31) change already into date datatype) and connected into sql server, same as i select the data and also when i generate all the reports. I want to change permanently and become like this (31-May-17). Any possible command or process i go through to make this happen? Thank you in advance.
@ProgrammingMadeEZ7 жыл бұрын
You should change it in the format of the form, not the format of the data.

Hi, how we can convert SQL Server DB to Access DB. Thanks for your supporting
@ProgrammingMadeEZ8 жыл бұрын
Heh.. why would you want to? You can use the SQL Server Import-Export utility to connect to an Access database and do basically the same process I show here, just with the sources swapped.

Hi Steve, first of all i want to thank you for these videos, and i want to excuse for my english (im from argentina). I wanna ask you if there is a way to make this process but in a database that has been separated in back-end and front-end. I tried to do it from the front end, and the import was succesful but it only recognize the queries, not the tables (beacuse there were only the links to the back-end).. And if i do it with de back end, it wouldn't import the queries... So, do you know if there is a solution for this case? Or do i have to put the parts of the database together? (I don't remember how to put them together)
@ProgrammingMadeEZ9 жыл бұрын
+Martin Niewial You shouldn't be importing queries to your SQL Server. The queries should stay on your front end file and only your tables should be on the back end.
@martinniewiall9 жыл бұрын
+Programming thank you for answear! Ok, so i keep the database separate and do this process just for the back end? Because i thought that in the nor thwind database example you use it the database together without separate it and when you selected "tables and queries to export" you selected all. That's my doubt
@ProgrammingMadeEZ9 жыл бұрын
The Northwind example doesn't come out of the box split. Since your database is already split, then yes you will need to migrate your access tables from the back end file to SQL Server.
@martinniewiall9 жыл бұрын
+Programming Perfect! i would do that way. Thank you very much Steve for your answear
