Another one is Seer, which is a simple preview window that opens, by pressing spacebar, as a partial window to view your file instead of actually opening it. I use this for viewing multiple photos files all the time.

I've used Everything for years and it really is the bees knees of search utilities. If you get the portable version then you can have 1 portable version for each drive if you want and have them all independent. The advantage is that its quicker if you have like 20 drives like me and also, you can have independent favourites. Also If you have encrypted drives then you can have a portable inside the encrypted drive and have it only index that drive which is way way more secure.

Okay so, Liron, this is a suggestion, could you include "Volumey" to a v2 of this video? Some laptops/PCs don't have shortcuts/physical buttons to reduce/increase/mute the volume. This app helps me and many other people increase/decrease their volume using their desired shortcut you set in their settings, it's available for free in the MS Store.

*Treesize* shows sizes of folders. Very useful for finding what is taking up most space on whole hard drive, or a particular folder. *SyncBack* can be used to produce back-up copies (full or incremental) in a very transparent way. The backup version is just an ordinary collection of files and folders, so you can simply look at it. It tells you what it is proposing to do, so that you can check that is what you meant. You need to understand what it is doing, or you could end up deleting your files rather than backing them up.
@LironSegev
@LironSegev 2 жыл бұрын
Love both of those - Treesize is my go to when I need to discover what is eating up my hard drive space and SyncBack is amazing to keep files in sync without using the cloud. Agree you need to be careful about the two way sync vs one way. I have been bitten by that before! Great recommendations

I’ve used both of these over the years. While Syncback is easier for less technical users due to the GUI, it doesn’t offer anything over the built in RoboCopy. And while I can mimick Treesize’s functionality with native PowerShell scripting, Treesize is worth the cost to do it

I've been using Agent Ransack for years, and it's a great program. It's key feature is that it doesn't just search in files, but searches using multiple threads, so can search (for example) eight files at once. This means it can be fast at searching through XML files looking for a specific field ID you need, etc, or VB source files looking for that particular function name.

Well, there has to be some standard - this is like saying Windows can't open Lotus files or Photoshop files out of the box. Two points that you didn't get quite right: Controlling each program's volume individually is already built in, but stupidly within "Xbox game bar." The shortcut to access it is [Windows Key+G]. There you should see a widget containing each program's volume. And with the searching, you need to go to Windows indexing options. There is a toggle to index the entire PC. There you can also just add individual folders to search, which makes it insanely fast and saves battery. This second one is in Windows 11 though, not sure if it exists in Windows 10.

Ditto Clipboard history. Allows categorized clipboard history and far more space than the default Windows history of just 30 items. Pinning in categories, customizable paste options that you can tie to keystrokes and so on. VLC Media Player- nuff said, I'm sure you know what it is. Far more superior than WMP. Also, you can control each apps volume on standard windows controller. Right-click the speaker and select Volume Mixer. However, its not very good if you switch between multiple Audio Devices as you will need to manually select the input. Not to mention it doesnt look as good as Ear Trumpet, the UI is very Windows XP.

I have been using Clover tabs since XP days - similar look and feel to Chrome tabs. Wheel click or Shift click = open new tab, drag tabs out to new window, drag & snap window as tab in another window. I would not recommend any version later then 3.0.406.0 though. Seems it changed hands after that and adware was added along with it becoming buggy - though have not looked at newer versions for years. Clover version 3.0.406.0 works perfectly on Windows 10.

Windows has a built-in sound mixer. Right-click on the little woofer and select mixer. It is not as convenient, though; it takes a lot of real estate and must be scrolled horizontally if a bunch of apps use sound.

Mixer is huge and definitely inconvenient. And why is there yet another click just to get to it?

Having tabs in file explorer is coming. It's in the Windows 11 Insider preview beta build 22622.x natively. It's just like chrome browser. You click on the + next to the current tab at the top and it opens a new file explorer tab. Each tab is customizable.

2:00 + counter to "EarTrumpet" Windows 10 (and 7, 8, as well i believe) DOES have this feature. simply right click on the speaker icon to open an audio menu. select: Open Volume mixer and you have the same basic functionality of eartrumpet. now i will admit (having not tried ear trumpet yet) that ear trumpet might have additonal settings (such as a dark mode) but for basic separate volume control, Windows Volume mixer works just fine for me.

Remote Mouse. This is an app that allows you use your phone to control the system provided they're both connected to the same WiFi and the app and software version is installed on the phone and system respectively. Not all features are free though.

Hi bro, your videos never cease to amaze me! I have one question in my mind though, I’m not sure if you have the answer to that? “How to tell if my PC or laptop is due for replacement?” Do you have an app or solution for that? Because I want to use my PC or laptop as long as possible. But at the same time want to prevent a catastrophic event that it die on me earlier than I expect and I end up going through lots of pain restoring my data. Thank you

What I do is just use it till it gets too slow! Make sure you have important stuff backed up to the cloud in case your SSD fails, 5-10 years would be a decent lifespan for a pc/laptop in my view.

The Volume situation has been in at the very least been solved in Windows 10 & 11. Lower right screen, right click on the speaker icon and RIGHT CLICK. Select Open volume mixer. It's built in.

Windows can adjust the volume per app. It is just that Microsoft didn't add a "Mixer" shortcut to the new Sound Volume applet. If you enable the classic volume control applet in Regedit with the MtcUvc key, you'll see the Mixer shortcut. The executable is called sndvol and is available as a Run command. Try typing in the run box "sndvol -f 49825268" (without the quotes). That opens the old volume control applet as well. You can pin it to the start menu or desktop or in a taskbar toolbar (Windows 10). Also, Windows might get tabs in Sun Valley 2.

Wiztree to find what's eating up your harddisk space. Shows a tree view, graphical overview, an overview sorted by extension and a full searchable list of all files on your disk. For local disks it's extremely fast as it reads the MFT instead of iterating through folders. Also has a portable version.

I use a program called Allway Sync. You can sync multiple folders either one way or both ways. This is very useful for backups. It finds files that are new or updated (same file name) and backs these only. Much faster than copying the entire folder. Use the analyze button to see which files are different. This is a paid app that I have been using for many years. One time payment and free upgrades.
