In Finland you can pick up a piece of fallen bark with one hand. In Australia it will have venemous snakes and/or spiders and/or scorpions (plus thousands of aggressive ants) under it.

No way I would pick up a slab of bark like that with my bare hand in Australia! You would need to kick it over first to check for snakes and spiders.

There's all kinds of things in the woods to use. You can use acorn tops to make wood elf helmets or bits of old birds nests to make thatch hut tops or harpy/roc nests. Just make sure you don't take anything that looks like it's being used by anything and be sure to bake/clean anything you bring back.

I just watched a few of your videos. Really like them! Especially because one does not need really fancy stuff. I will be working on my first miniture terrain soon...just need the XPS Foam ;-). At what temperature do you sterilize material from the forest in the oven? Do you sterilize everything? Also rocks and sand...? I am sorry, I am a total newbie when it comes to this ;-)
@BardsCraft

I mentioned something in the video. 80 degrees celcius in the oven for 30+ mins works well to kill most of the bacteria etc. The large rocks can be washed with a brush and detergent, gets rid of all the small particles. Good luck with getting XPS!
