Hemp or Jute works great, also I tried this method, but found colouring the string first, then cutting to length worked much quicker

I didnt know people made the grass out of sawdust somtimes? I live in an appartment attached to my husbands woodshop. If i have great quantities of anything it is saw dust.
@ciarajeanr4 күн бұрын
Sawdust is the best material but it's usually hard to get and expensive if you can find a place to buy it. If you have access to it, definitely use that! Get a few different strainers and shift out a bunch of different textures. I make my own saw dust with a coffee grinder.

This is a brilliant way to make grass (yes, I'm a bit late to this party). What was the white glue you used to glue the flocking to the base?

I always support creative ideas like this, so... great job my friend! I will try it, but i will try to mix acrylics with water in 1:1 or 2:1 ratio, so it would be easier to spread the paint through this grass mix and should be easier and faster for the whole thing to dry.

This looks wonderful. Not nice terrain that is impressive primarily because of using cheap/free materials, but really good compared to the biggest youtube terrain crafting channels using lots of expensive equipment and materials too.

Bark often falls off trees, and you can then pick it up off the ground without risking hurting the tree or bothering anyone. That's how I get my bark.

This looks great! I always worry about my works not being good enough, not perfect, but the here you are, adjusting things on the fly, and the results are amazing! A tip for shingles I got from another video, you can cut an entire strip of those, but keep them attached to the strip with about 0.5-1cm left, then just glue the entire strip on the roof! You can alternate patterns to have an interlocking look or something. Saves a lot of time of individually glueing the shingles to the roof. Try it for the next work!

If you add too much paint, try adding water and rubbing it through the civ or on some paper towel. I bet that will rinse off the paint and break up the clumps by watering down the stickiness of the paint. It might just take longer to dry out. Also, save those clump bits, they would work well as seaweed or vegetables on a market stall or larger plants in a garden.
