In this soft spoken ASMR video, I tell you the stories of four American ghost towns:
- North Brother Island, New York, a small uninhabited island that once had a large hospital and kept the infamous Typhoid Mary in quarantine for more than two decades.
- Bodie, California, a well-preserved mining town that boomed in the 1870's thanks to the discovery of gold deposits. I tell you a little about the California Gold Rush, Express companies like Wells Fargo, and the decline of this once thriving town.
- Real de Catorce, Mexico, another mining town that can only be accessed via an underground tunnel, and is a place of pilgrimage for Huichol people and Christians.
- Villa Epecuén, Argentina, a lakeside resort that was submerged and spent 2 decades under salty water, until the water withdrew and revealed an eerie landscape.
More ghost towns stories:
- Centralia (Pennsylvania), Prypiat (Ukraine), Kolmanskopp (Namibia), Humberstone and Santa Laura (Chile): • ASMR - Ghost Towns
- Hashima (Japan) at the end of this video: • ASMR - History of Alch...

Hi, I love your historical videos the most. You have a natural, unforced voice, unlike others! I love your longer videos from 1 to 2 hours too. Would you consider making a video Mansa Musa? He was the emperor of the Mali Kingdom and the richest man ever recorded? I recently discovered him so, I will read up more on him too. It's reported that when en route to Mecca, he spent so much gold and gave away so much too that, he bankrupted the Eqyptian economy that took 12 years to recover!! I am also interested in the likes of The Vanderbilts etc. I sleep without sleeping tablets since, I have found your wonderful voice. Please don't stop your story telling because you're far too good, to be one of those annoying ASMR 'artists' that make ridiculous noises, such as chopping foods, shaving soap etc. You are far too educated for that nonsense and I don't imagine that, you find those videos amusing either! You are like me and like to learn new things. :) Stay safe, God bless, much love from Ireland. Ps. I used to live in Paris, in the 16th and the 1st arrondissement. I moved a few times and think, one apartment was in the 15th too. I was an au pair. I should have stayed in France :/

I really appreciate that you try to stick to the facts, and make it clear when there is speculation or uncertainty about the history. So many “educational/historical” content channels that pick the most sensational possibilities in history rather than painting a complete picture from what we know, and what might be true. It takes more work, but we really appreciate it!

I am not usually one for kitschy comments, but god, this video is a blessing right now. I have super important exams tomorrow and on Friday and just finished studying at 3 in the morning after an extremely long day... Probably can't sleep, I think. Too much caffeine over the day, too much anxiety. And what do I see? You uploaded! You're such a blessing. Been with your channel since before your long break, so your voice has guided me through years of academic anxiety and you still manage to set my racing mind to rest. Thank you so much for the effort and the love you pour into your videos. I seriously can't thank you enough!
