Your videos are pure gold... keep up the good work. This is very important for people who live and work in HU and trying to learn the language at the same time. Thank you!

An interesting phonetic language, so different from English. An interview channel with cc hungarian captions is Frederickusz. Also, a storytelling booktuber with hungarian generated captions is Agi Szabados 🎉😊

The problem for us English speakers is that some varieties of English distinguish between the "a" and "o" (as in "lot" / "thought") and some don't. So, depending on where you're from , catching this difference may or may not be a challenge.

I have to say I prefer the subtitles included in the video over those in the KZbin app just because I can see both Hungarian and English subtitles at the same time. If this is possible with KZbin as well, I would tend to that because then I can switch them one and off as I wish.

Indeed, the difference between "a" and "o" is very hard to hear when Hungarians are speaking fast, I usually just watch the shape of their mouths to infer which consonant they used. It's a little easier to hear the difference in slower speech, especially when minimal pairs are compared side by side like in your video. But I still find the pronunciation of these two sounds very similar, "o" is just more similar to "u" while "a" is more open. I guess I just have to listen to more minimal pairs to pick up the difference even in fast speech.

I love that I also pick up new words and expressions beside the topic, e.g. I didn’t know the word “king” (király) is used in the meaning “cool” 9:01

A perzsa nyelvben van 'á' hang is és 'a' hang is, csak az 'á' a rövid és az 'a' a hosszú. És meg tudják különböztetni az a-t az o-tól.

Please, guys, make her some donations (you can see how do it in the description). I really think some 5 or 10 dollars will not ruin us at all, it is just like a couple of beers, you know what I mean, but this will keep her motivated to provide such gold in the future. I make videos like this myself and I know how embarrassing it is to ask publicly for money, I never do this for myself but I do this for Lilla, because we all know she deserves it. Nothing motivates you better then money, please, do it because I bet you she puts a lot of effort in her videos. If you can't make a donation, at least open her videos and make her generate visualizations and hours in order to get money from the platform, be thankful, put some likes and comments.

I only just started noticing consonant assimilation in speech (like mondta -> montta) in my Duolingo lessons. A couple of times the speaker said something I couldn't follow, but when I saw it written, I realised what was happening. So your new video was perfectly timed!

Szia Lilla.

Great video! Interestingly, my native tongue Luxembourgish has a very similar difference between "a" and "o" to Hungarian. Also most other phonemes are quite similar, the only sounds that do not appear in Luxembourgish are "gy, ty" and "rolled r".

Hmm that's interesting😄 then this is a bit easier for you:)

Definitely for me "Ráday utca" sounds like ”Radoy utco” and the only way to say it as correctly as I can is to use the "o" instead of "a".
