Thanks Betty! It's all half-square triangles and some colour placement - easy done and worth giving it a try! Thanks for watching.

Hi Michelle! I love all the quilts, in particular the last one in your video. That looks very much like the "Postcards from Sweden" pattern. I'm making that; in fact I've completed all my HST's, but I've put them aside so I can work on some Holiday projects. I'll get back to it after the first of the year. Like you, the pattern fooled me at first, until I realized it's all HST's and not hourglass blocks, because they form themselves. A great video!

Thanks Beth! I kept running into those inspiration photos, including Postcards from Sweden, and really wanted to see if I could create a similar effect. It's amazing how the entire look just comes down to colour placement. Hope your holiday projects are going well!

Michelle, those quilts are all beautiful! It’s inspiring listening to your thought process and reading how you changed it. Looks like the weather is getting a little cooler in your part of Canada.

Hi Jean! Ugh.... I'm not impressed with the colder weather. It's going to be tough getting used to a Canadian winter again. I've enjoyed sharing my thought process (and where things can go wrong) - hopefully it helps others who may run into similar situations. Thanks for watching.

Another option to consider if in a time crunch is to make smaller centered medallion and use large corner setting triangles. You get some good real estate fast and really makes center pop. I like the offsets quite a bit as they have nice visual interest. Jittery Wings as some beautiful color play quilts…not that I think you need help there! I enjoy making baby quilts, and I gift them to everyone in my family’s orbit. I saw a quilter call them “quilts in the wild”, and I have shamelessly co-opted.

Hi Michelle, love seeing you adapt the pattern to the material you have. And love seeing the pile of miscellaneous fabrics shrink further.
@bitspiecesquilting3 ай бұрын
Thanks Donna! The pile of fabric is getting smaller and I love the problem solving elements. It's bits & pieces quilting for a reason and I'm trying to focus on making the most of what I already have. This has been a fun challenge and a privilege to have Sue's trust to do whatever I want with her fabric.

Brilliant! I have always asked myself as well what the secret is behind the colour placement. They are mixed to a certain extent, but on the other hand there is some order. You solved the mystery, thank you. Best wishes from Germany! Andrea❤
@bitspiecesquilting3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Andrea! If I had more purple, I would have mixed some of those together with some of the reds as well, but I didn't have enough. And if I were to do it again, I'd probably mix a few more yellows with the blues and greens. They made for good "transition" pieces from one section to the next. It was fun to do - and my advice - don't think about it too hard! It will look great no matter how you lay them out. Thanks for watching!
@The_patchy_artist3 ай бұрын
But honestly, yours came out so beautifully! We just should take the risk! You are right, maybe the reds and yellows should be more prominent, but nevertheless it is beautiful with the colours that were available. It really is! Thanks, Michelle, I love your tutorials, you explain so well and afterwards I always think why haven't I tried it yet ? So inspiring! Have a nice Sunday! Andrea

Glad I don't have to pick which one I like best because I really like them all. The softer color brights turned out really nice, gives me some ideas with some of my softer colors that I didn't know for sure how to use them. Thanks for explaining how you matched up your squares to make the HST, it makes so much sense to my brain the way you did it. I so enjoying the baby quilt challenge and seeing what you come up with. They are all so wonderful! I've noticed if I have more warm squares than cool squares, I put the cool squares down the center diagonal and split the warm between the top right and lower left., it seems to balance out and looks like you have as many cool as warm blocks.. Of course it works the same In reverse (more cool than warm which is what happens to me). Next time you try a "random" quilt like this try that method and see if it works for you. Love your channel I've seen all your videos at least once!
@bitspiecesquilting2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Suzan! This is good idea. I was trying to create a "wave" of warm through the middle, but a "river" of cool would look good too. Thanks for watching!
