I get mine retwisted every 5 weeks. I started my locs in February of 2023 and I started every 4 weeks. After a year, I extended it to 5 weeks. I think I may extend it again to every 6weeks soon. My hair grows very fast so that may be the longest time I wait.

Hello Winnie I have always re twisted my locs in the beginning I did every single month mainly because I have fine hair it was growing out of the loc then after a while I just went to re twisting every 3 - 4 months I love the full look it gave my hair a chance to grow out and have something to re twist

Hey Wini, at present I have decided to re-twist my hair every 2 months as previously I was doing it every month. Like you I also like when I have fuller roots. Btw the bob hair style really suits you 😊

I don’t know if it’s because I retwisted my locs during my 1st, 2nd and 3rd loc journeys, but 12 months into my 4th loc journey I have found the roots of my locs have pretty much stayed in the initial parting that was put in. In one or two places there is a little bit or growth away from the locs, but overall I have found that I don’t need to retwist at all (at the moment). I was retwisting every 6-8 weeks until up 6 months ago and since then has gone semi freeform. Like you, I am playing it by ear as to whether I will retwist twice a year. But for right now my current loc maintenance is working for me and I am really happy with the health of my hair and thickness of my locs (they were a little thin the last three times). I love that you stated “different things work for different people”. I think sometimes we people with locs tend to get so invested and excited with what works for us that we believe that that will work for everyone. So long as that enthusiasm is tempered with not being oppressive or intrusive then channels like yours can continue to be a great resource for the loc community.

Absolutely, I am a big believer in different things working for different people & so I can only really talk about what has worked or hasn't worked for myself. I like how like myself, you'll be playing it by ear to ear & seeing how things pan out for you. Thanks so much for watching and commenting ❤️☺️
