Mate - over here in Oz nobody cares if you're "that cooky guy" (or "sheila") as long as you're having a good time. Of course if you want to improve your skills it's important to develop the right technique. Just back from a few hours in the surf with the kids on our Boogie Boards here in Sydney. By far the best way to obtain such skills is to be born here! :-) Other than downing people who aren't displaying world class skills, this is a worthy video and your time is appreciated (there is some cred here even if you're not an Aussie...). ;-) Cheers and thanks - Dave and the crew

You'll benefit from a bit more control by holding the outside rail. But the main reason to boog is to have fun! So which ever works for you : ) Rob

What are some good stretches to do ? I pulled my intercostal muscle on my right side, etc. And I would not want to repeat that injury it as it takes forever to heal and the surf here is teasing me.
@infonac3926 жыл бұрын
Hey Stevo, thanks for the comment. I can highly recommend yoga. It really helps improve your flexibility, reduces the risk of injury and will extend your bodyboarding career. Mike Stewart is a testimony to this. I could also recommend reading this blog post that we put together to help to prepare your body for bodyboarding; bodyboard-holidays.com/bodyboard-fitness-training/ good luck, let me know how you get on! Thanks Rob

@BodyboardSchool4 жыл бұрын
Yes 100% - if you're a big guy it just means you need a big board to offer you flotation and bouyancy. There are a lot out there. Check out the Science Thunder, it's a great big guys board.

1:04 is it necessary to keep your chest far from the board?
@infonac3926 жыл бұрын
Hi Leo, yes it is. If you keep your back arched and your chest forwards you will maintain speed along the wave which is the key to all of the moves. Enjoy!

I ride waves I think pretty decently. And I grab the front of the board with both hands. Hardly ever the rail. Wonder if that would help.. But my elbow may be off the board.
@BodyboardSchool5 жыл бұрын
Hey Elliot, thanks for the comment. By holding your outside rail with your hand that is closest to the beach you will increase the control that you have. It will help you to keep the inside rail engaged in the waves face. Particularly when the waves are steep. Good luck, enjoy! Rob

Hey how I get into big waves is when you start dropping into the barrel you pull as hard as you can on your rail and you have to focus.
@caolmacconchoille19693 жыл бұрын
'that cooky guy', 'just looks ridiculous', 'don't be a cook'. Ok so basically try to look cool with good technique? If you were trying to pass the shallow comments on coolness off as funny, they didn't come across that way. There was 15 seconds of what a good technique was by the way. The video is over 3 mins. Come on man. You can do better than that surely.

Mike Stewart was definitely the leader in style, and riding a wave functionality. My favorite riders Were Mike, Ben. Now Player, Hardy, Dave Hubbard, Winchester. Unlike Pierre, and Jeff Hubbard, they ride what's in frint of them, as opposed to speeding down the line for 1 giant menuover
