I just love your channel and Brilliant Bikes also! My Brompton is sitting here in my living room as I heal from cancer surgery. It just might be the only one of my bikes I can ride, and I can't wait. Also, Miriam Kennedy and Susanna Thornton are a great inspiration!

Thanks Doug. When do you think you’ll be able to ride it again? Oh yes I like Miriam and Susanna - but I’ve not seen their videos for a while so thanks for the reminder. I’ll go and catch up!

You and Hannah at Brilliant Bikes are my go to Brompton KZbin channels. As ever, great advice, lovely to hear you don’t/won’t compromise your standards. You need to open a branch in Weymouth - I have to travel 30 miles to get to a bike who is confident enough and capable of working on Bromptons and similarly he owns one and loves working on them but constantly reminds me that they need looking after properly. More Brompton videos please!

Hi John, thanks for your kind comments and watching the video. So glad you like our videos and glad to hear you have a good mechanic even if you have to travel for them!

Another great video, Paul and Sarah. As an old Brompton rider (old in both senses) it's always interesting to see how Bromptons wear and how they are being maintained. Re Brilliant Bikes - an excellent Brompton YT channel and dealer - nice to see you promoting them and I hope they appreciate it. Finally, totally agree with your "all or nothing" approach regarding bikes that are dangerous. Wheels can literally explode which is not what you want when mixing with machines that can kill you.

I travelled from Reading to Bristol to get my Brompton serviced by Paul. I didn't think there was much wrong with it but it came back feeling like new. Great service and I will be going back.

Thanks for the video. I was hoping to see how you clamped the Brompton in a work stand...eg do you only use the seat post or also the frame..? could you please add a picture - or maybe a future topic... options for repair positioning. Thanks
@veloworks92664 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Any bike that we work on is only clamped with the seat post never the frame. Also with the Brompton clamping towards the top of the seat post puts it in a nice working position 👍

Hi, what are your thoughts on oiling/greasing the mating surfaces of the hinges? Thoroughly enjoy your videos.
@veloworks9266Ай бұрын
@@AshleyBrayson hi, thanks for the kind comment. I don’t see what the point of greasing this area would be but greasing the clamp bolt threads does add benefit 👍

Interesting look into the goings-on at the workshop! I’m curious to see if you’ll be going back up to 44T or something else. Cheers!

Thanks and thanks for watching! Yes I’ve actually just done the work today and I’ve gone back to a 44t because I’ve been doing lots and lots of riding and want the harder gears!

An interesting Video Paul. I did a bit of " blinging " on my Superlight Brommie, and fitted a Brompton Dynamo wheel kit ( sourced from Brilliant Bikes who are, as you say, Brilliant ) to my workhorse Brommie. Next project is a trip to Glasgow as my wife wants to swap her Rohloff hub from her touring Bike to one of her Brommies. I wondered if you'd ever thought of branching out, a bit like Ben up at Kinetics?
@veloworks92665 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed! To share my honest opinion with you I really think what Kinetics do is amazing however I like the Brompton for being a Brompton. And if I felt as though I needed more from it I’d choose to use one of my other bikes. That’s just my personal opinion though 🫣

@@veloworks9266 nuts and bolts, I will just replace with new ones.... correct? But how about the internal Hub? Rust on the surface
@veloworks92667 сағат бұрын
@ nuts and bolts - will just be steel so replacing the best way forward. Some wire wool lightly used may get rid of some of the rust on the hub. Otherwise you’ll just need to live with it. Prevention is the best option moving forward. Hope that helps

That stuff still gets dirty - I’ve been using Silca Hot wax and the chain is still clean to the touch after 1000 miles.
