This was very helpful. I am 66, just retired and want to tune up based on new income streams and goals. I’ve always used a spread sheet up till now, but been loosey goosey as I had a good income. I watched your video about 4 times😂. First I got the big picture on types/options. Then I analyzed what I really want from an app based on my financial needs and goals. The 3rd listen was trying to match up the options you presented to my goals. That took two viewings. At the end, I think I made a comfortable decision. We’ll see, I may switch tools. Thanks for this, Kim and Nerdwallet!

Sad part is, in reality about 50% of budget is now allocated to rent due to inflation. In Canada phone and internet cost WELL above market premiums and lots of employers want you to own a car so that could ad something that calls at 100% of budget for payments, fuel and the real scam, insurance.

A many say, great info but tell me where you can make close to 70k a year and pay less than 50% for housing. The places where you can do that, your pay will be in the 40-50k annually is the old ways of budgeting have gone out the window

As money situations get tighter it becomes MORE IMPORTANT to find a budgeting system that works for you. "The old ways" are THE WAYS to gain control of your money.... unless someone has reinvented the wheel or made a better mouse trap and I'm not aware of it.
