We come in all shapes and sizes as ppl and have different lifestyles, what might be good for one individual may not work for another or vise versa. I'm sure the Thursday desert boots are a fine product, but I've been wearing Clarks since 1965 when I was 10, and still do. Never had a problem with Clarks as far as quality goes, and while they don't exactly give them away, the price isn't that outrageous. I need a more compelling reason other than price and quality to try another brand.

You really can’t go wrong with Clark’s, and honestly I don’t think Thursdays are even trying to compete with the legacy brand. They are cheaper, and the quality mirrors that. If you can afford Clark’s there is no reason to get Thursdays. I’m not bashing Thursdays, I prefer them myself, just realistically Clark’s are a level up that I don’t feel the need to own, and I totally respect those who do wear them.

The difference is in the quality of the leather / suede and the welt. A better quality will last decades when good year welted because you can resole them. With that said, Thursdays aren't the pinnacle for quality. They are a mid range at best. If you think 250 is bad don't bother looking at real quality boots. You will end up in the 400 range but they will last for 10s of years instead of one season at best.

All shoes with a sewn sole will have thread stitched on the top and bottom, with a Goodyear welt you have an extra "lip" of material that comes up from the sole and hugs the bottom of the upper leather. Allen Edmond and Alden boots have these, from the pictures on Thursday Boots, they do not.
