The Jeffery Allen Manchester story gets even crazier than just him living in that Circuit City (which is pretty nuts already) - he also had a girlfriend, whose kids he gave stolen toys to. He volunteered for outreach programs for needy families. He told everybody at his church he had a "secret government job." None of them had any idea he was living where he was living. After he got "caught", he escaped again. The police had to get his girlfriend to trick him into coming over to see her so they could arrest him. He also burned down a dentist's office to "destroy his records" after going in to get his teeth fixed. Pretty fascinating.

I once walked right into a secure bank building and right into the elevator and went up to the top floor of the skyscraper with the offices... poked my head out and went back down and walked outside. Somehow nobody saw us apart from probably security cameras in the elevator but they never came after us! We did not do anything apart from walk into the elevator and went up to the top of the skyscraper and then back down and walk outside. I had heard this story about a man in a clown costume and he was a squatter. So there was this rich family who had a mansion the parents hired a babysitter because they were going out on a date the father had called the babysitter when she was doing her job. He said don't go in the room at the end of the hallway there is stuff we don't want you to see in there. So after the kids had gone to bed the babysitter decided to watch some tv. She was watching tv and saw this clown "statue". So she called the father and said do you have anywhere else I can watch tv. The father answered why. Because the clown statue is freaking me out. The father then said get the kids, call the police, and get out of the house. The clown had turned out to be a squatter who had been living there for 2 years unnoticed. He then got arrested and is still in jail

This is a long story but it involves squatting! When I was maybe 15 a guy from my school and his childhood best friend had run away and were living on the streets. I lived in a not-so-great neighborhood so there were a few abandoned houses scattered around and everyone looked sketchy so nobody would question two teenagers joining in on the sketch-fest. One night I decided to join them and we were walking around a residential area around midnight when we ran into these two adult homeless people, a man and a woman, and they decided to keep an eye on us and let us join them at an abandoned house they'd been scoping out. Apparently this house hadn't been abandoned long because it still had electricity and plumbing, was fully furnished, and, as we found out while searching it, there were still a few bottles of alcohol hidden around the place. If I recall correctly an old man had lived there and recently passed, his family probably just hadn't finished clearing it out and weren't planning to. The adults had been going through the garage a day or so prior to us meeting and found the keys so we could all get in and out no problem. After searching the house it was decided that the adults would move on and leave it to the teenagers, so we started setting it up to live in. We put garbage bags in the basement windows so that light wouldn't shine through and alert neighbors, some bedding was taken from bedrooms and moved to the basement to sleep on, and it was a block away from a safeway so if there was a need for food it was easy to get. The other two teenagers lived there for a couple weeks, only leaving early in the morning or late at night to avoid the neighbors, and weren't caught! They had another abandoned apartment they visited a good few towns away from a prior running away experience, though that one wasn't as secure. They stayed together on the run until winter when the boy gave himself up, the girl never did and still hasn't if what I last heard is true, but the memories of chilling in the teen squating house will always be treasured!
