Dude you are damn smooth up north bro. I’ve been to Canaan numerous times on snowmobile riding out of Island Pond. The North East Kingdom has some wilderness. Does that bridge in the beginning go to New Hampshire? I’ve crossed the border up there and went to a great restaurant n NH. Giant old colonial house , bedrooms were all dining rooms. Fantastic steak and beautiful riding. You really utilize what upper New England has to offer.

Camp food!!!!! Life is too short to eat terrible food lol. This canoe was my first composite canoe. Bought her 4 years ago. We have been on quite a few adventures together. All those scrapes and scratches are a collective story on our time together! I was a bit apprehensive about how she was going to handle the conditions of this trip. She has yet to let me down. I have a bit more appreciation for her now. This is a fun, enjoyable canoe to paddle. Thank you for the awesome comment.

Great video! I've watched alot of your videos and I'm thinking about buying a fusion but, I've seen that you have switched to a Trillium or Wilderness canoe. Any negative thoughts about the Fusion?
@ItsGoodintheWoods
@ItsGoodintheWoods 5 ай бұрын
The fusion is a fantastic canoe. It was my first nice canoe and I absolutely love it. But I have a canoe addiction, hence the other canoes. lol. All the canoes I have fit a specific use, the Trillium is super light weight for those portage trips when weight matters. The wilderness is light weight, but high volume, for those trips when I want to bring a lot of gear. The Phoenix is for beating up down rivers. The Fusion, is now my go to for fishing and exploring smaller rivers and creeks. It is a 13' canoe that is quite capable. From week long lake trips to rivers and small class II rapids, it has handled it all. It is a nice canoe. It is a shorter canoe, so it is not a speed demon, and it is not the best tracking canoe out there, but with a double blade it cruises right along and tracks just fine. I don't have anything bad to say about it at all. It is a great little solo canoe that doesn't break the bank and is sure to turn some heads

You commented 'never did whitewater before this trip'. Did you watch some how-to videos before your trip? Bill Mason has a good downriver whitewater canoe paddle video, may be available on KZbin. Another guy, Kent Ford I think, had a good video, but he turns around and surfs and rolls, not a camper.

What brand is the wood paddle you are using? It looks nice. If you want to learn to paddle whitewater the Androscoggin River in Errol is the best place I know. It's a short class 2 or 3 rapid depending on water levels with lots of eddies to practice entering and exiting, big enough waves to play with and nothing too technical to get you in trouble.
@ItsGoodintheWoods
@ItsGoodintheWoods Жыл бұрын
The paddle is a Bending Branches Explorer plus. I like it so far. Every time I go up to Aziscohos lake I eyeball the Androscoggin! That looks like a fun river. Thank you for the suggestion and information. How is the camping along that river?
@zone4garlicfarm
@zone4garlicfarm Жыл бұрын
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Northern Waters has a campground and paddling school right on the river. They also have the Diamond Peaks campsites on the Magalloway River. Mollidgewock State Park has camping on the river a few miles downstream from Errol. There are more campsites on the shores of Umbagog Lake that I have not checked out. I've used Bending Branches kayak paddles but I've never seen one of their canoe paddles. I bought my first Mitchell paddle about 15 years ago and haven't wanted any other brand since then.

I don't live in Connecticut, so I am sorry to say I can not help on the matter. I am completely unfamiliar with the camping situation down there. There are so many canoes out there, it is very hard for me to say what is best for you. I would recommend establishing your budget, and go down the google rabbit hole. There are a lot of good groups on facebook that can help you with a vast amount of information. There is a lot more knowledge there than I can provide..

@ItsGoodintheWoods
@ItsGoodintheWoods 6 ай бұрын
That is a hugely involved question. Impossible for me to answer that for you. There is a lot you need to know about what kind of canoe would work best for you, before getting one. Is weight a concern? Rivers or lakes? What kind of rivers, slow or fast? Rivers and lakes? Single blade or double? Extended trips or day trips? Or both? Dog, no dog? There is a lot to consider.
@likeadog7752
@likeadog7752 6 ай бұрын
@@ItsGoodintheWoods weight is a concern but not huge. I’d portages occasionally. Slow rivers and lakes. Solo fishing and camping trips with the dog. Day and extended trips. I have a 17 footer for family trips but wanting a solo boat.
