I'm retired here in southern new England and I can't tell you how many people I've encountered who either move south or snowbird for the winter. They don't get my distaste for crowded white sand sunny beaches along the southern border. Nope, not for me. When I tell them "North Maine Woods" they look at me like I have 2 heads. Ya can't explain it. You either love it, or you don't... Move on. Thanks for the videos, they are fun and entertaining.

Great video. I live within 40 minutes of the spot you started out at, was there a couple days ago. funny thing about Maine doesn't matter early spring or mid summer the wind can make that water sketchy anytime lol. Specially storm season. I had a boat capsize and swam several miles in near freezing water once on Schoodic a neighboring lake. Wardens were former Coast Guard and told me they did not know how I made it, they pulled bodies outta warmer then that lol. Anyhoo you guys picked some truly backwoods water bodies to showcase, very nice to see! First time I caught your videos but I am impressed, great content.

Just watched this video, the first from your channel and I liked and subscribed. I was born in MA, grew up and NH and went to college in Bar Harbor, Maine. I have backpacked all over New England. I really enjoyed this video. I canoed the Allagash in 1980. Regardless you made a great video and the food and adult beverages is great. Can not figure how your partner dumped his canoe. Glad he recovered quick. Looking forward to more of your videos. You should plan a trip in Canada, the canoeing is off the chart!
@ItsGoodintheWoods4 ай бұрын
A fellow New Englander! Nice. The Allagash is on my list. I have made plans to do it the last 2 years in a row, plans fell through both times. I want it. The Debs wilderness is a fantastic trip. One of my favorites. I have done it multiple times now and it just never gets old. There is so much out there to explore. It is amazing! When he dumped that canoe I was like, what happened? lol. Looks like he got spun around a bit in the boiler there, that caught him a bit off guard, threw him off balance enough to get the water pushing over the gunwale and it was over. Happened quick. It was an interesting situation. But he did make a good recovery. This experience was enough for me to finally decide to buy a dry suit. Canada is on my list as well. Big wilderness out there!

JP didn't mention any fish. I guess he was skunked? Bourbon iced latte? Oh yeah! I needed to replace my Sawyer this year. So disappointed that Wal-mart doesn't carry them anymore. Ended up getting it at EMS with a gift-card. Looks like a great adventure. Sorry that JP took a dunk. Looked like it really shook him up in his video. Glad everything worked out.
@ItsGoodintheWoods7 ай бұрын
I guess he did get skunked. In his defense, we didn't have much time for fishing unfortunately. We were on the move. Dude....that bourbon iced latte was off the hook!!! Now I have a lightweight alternative to the morning Alcachino!!!! YES! I didn't know walmart stopped selling Sawyer. That sucks. Cool that you got a gift card purchase though. Score. For future purchases, you can get them from Hilltop Packs! They send em straight to your doorstep! This was an awesome adventure. I had a great time. That swim JP went for was an interesting event. He went in and I went into rescue mode. That water was cold. It took him a while to get to shore. I went and collected all his gear and canoe while he was doing so. By the time he made it to shore he was shivering uncontrollably and his lips were blue. It was scary. I immediately set out into the woods to find a suitable spot for a fire, just incase, but we didn't end up needing it. He changed into dry cloths, I was constantly asking him questions, keeping him engaged. After he changed into dry clothes he made a surprisingly quick recovery. If it had been colder outside we could have been in trouble. But it didn't go down that way. I didn't film any of the recovery process. I was much more concerned about my buddy, and didn't want to film someone in that situation. I tried to do a little VO in the editing process, but I couldn't get it down to a degree that I liked. So I didn't include it. the rest of the day and evening was a ton of fun. That swim did open my eyes a bit. I like late fall, early spring paddling. That has become very clear to me. I have been rolling the dice for far too long now, and getting away with it. I am currently in an obsessed state of Drysuit research. Come fall, I'll be in a drysuit.
@Doc_Watson7 ай бұрын
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I would not expect any of the rescue process to be filmed especially since it was just the two of you. I am very thankful that everything worked out okay.
@projectknifehand6 ай бұрын
Oh I thought I mentioned being skunked and not catching any fish lol. More than once. Hah. If I didn't I meant to. Justin did well trolling. I just wasn't comfortable doing so in the Indy. The recovery process went well...honestly I spent too much time in the water. I could have gotten out sooner but wasn't ready to part ways with my boat or gear. After a few minutes of being caught in the eddy I decided it was time to prioritize. Got myself to shore and Justin was instrumental in collecting my things. I spend a lot of time being anxious man. Even in places like that. I contributed to the dunk no doubt...but like to think the bad experiences help foster more positive experiences
