I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they are always great. The photography is unbelievable and adds a lot to the whole experience. I really like your attitude when the fishing may not be so great. I do wish you would show pictures of the flies you use I would love to see pictures of your wooly Walt’s worms and a recipe other than materials use to tie them. I would like to tie some of those up. Thanks in advance.

You're in luck my friend! Making a bit of a shift with the videos I film this season to be even more about the surroundings, the story, the flies and rods etc, so there will be almost without fail shots of all flies used going forward, once I get through my backlog of films from last season. Recipes are something I get asked about often. I don't think I'd make a KZbin video for a recipe, but maybe I'll add a section to my website someday. It's on the list, just a bit far down!

Sorry for the delay! I just use my big camera if I'm close enough to it. Leave the trout in my net "live well" for 10 seconds, run and grab the camera, shoot slow motion footage up close. I use a Canon EOS RP and a 16-35 f/4 lens.

I've never met anybody who says Colorado sucks for fishing - I live here and I love it......
@FlickyFlies5 ай бұрын
I live here too and I've heard it before! At the same time, I also love it, deeply. It's an incredible state to live in. My point was more so that you need to get off the beaten path to enjoy what this state has to offer, and that's exactly what I did in this video. From my point of view, if you only fish the famous, crowded waters that Colorado is known for, it does kind of suck.
@ThePanamaCollection1-lv5po5 ай бұрын
@@FlickyFlies Okay, I'll totally agree with that - we always look for the remote streams that are hard to get to, because Texans don't like to hike! Tight lines.......

Colorado sucks? If you need to hit the famous places, yes. I prefer the small one man/woman size creeks. 6-12" trout in peaceful settings in the high country, are just fine for me. Great days, Chris.

Totally on the same page! It's interesting how people get stuck fishing the same popular spots for medium sized fish. Deckers is a nightmare, for example. BTW, thanks so much for the support on Patreon!

So, it looks like you found my top two favorite creeks in the world, literally! How’d you find out about those? It’s a shame that the first one in the 22min mark has become popular enough that someone has now put a rope down to the water. I used to have to slide down that on my butt. The further up you go, the more it opens up to a meandering creek. The second at the 49min mark I can never pass up whenever I’m in the area. I’ve been going up there for over thirty years. Matter of fact, I’m almost certain that my first trout on flies were probably at either one of these creeks. I love those two creeks!
@FlickyFlies5 ай бұрын
A mixture of obsessing over google maps and following blue lines as well as some targeted google searches. There are a few blogs out there where people write some in depth trip reports, I'll say that! I agree - I didn't really like the rope being there. Largely unnecessary and takes away from the natural quality of the place, but man that first bit of canyon was among the prettiest I've ever fished. That second creek turned out to be quite popular, unfortunately. Took me a while to find a spot to fish it, although I guess I'm supposed to feel glad that people were out there enjoying it. I struggle with that though haha. I couldn't believe how clear that water was! I'm heading back to the area this summer again, hoping to target some different water that I missed on this go around. Thanks for watching!

@@FlickyFlies it’s been awhile since I’ve searched up the names of the creeks. The first one had an article written about it back a number of years ago. Guess word has gotten out about the second. I used to never see anyone up there. Although, I too have noticed more people there. Used to be able to get across the little crumbled bridge up there too. If you want to ask me about some of that area, let me know. Like I said, I’ve fished all over that area for over 30 years. And I respect the way you don’t give away where you’re at. Take care.

Who says Colorado sucks?
@FlickyFlies5 ай бұрын
Me, sometimes, if I stick to popular waters around the Front Range. But, the real idea for the title was spurred on by Huge Fly Fisherman's video where he ranks states for fly fishing. I get it, it can be really busy here and even the popular tailwaters don't have huge fish compared to a lot of places. Luckily for me, I enjoy getting way off the beaten path and don't care about fish size, only the beauty of the place and the act of fishing.
