4 DAYS of FRESH WATER FISHING - Trout - Salmon - TEKAPO & TWIZEL CANALS - How to Drift Eggs - EP50

Our biggest episode yet - four days spent chasing trout and salmon in several high country fisheries in the South Island of New Zealand! This week we kick things off with soft baiting for trout at Lake Dunstan with Jordan (@thetroutfiles) on sunset, where we get hooked up to a BIG brown trout.
Later, we journey up to Tekapo where we spend two days fishing the canals using various methods - soft baits, drifting eggs, metal lures etc. but have limited success catching a couple of brown trout. After being rained out, we ducked back to Wanaka for the night before reconnecting with Lance Gill (@fish_the_drift_nz) from Okuma to receive a masterclass in drifting eggs and soft baiting for the monster trout and salmon that the canals are renown for. Lance is well known in the local fishing scene for catching huge numbers of these big fish, so it was incredibly informative spending the day with him, and we managed to film a number of tips and techniques for you to learn in this episode too.
We finish off the day targeting small schooling salmon in Twizel and finally get hooked up to a few fish there.
We had so much fun filming this one, and plan to target these monster fish again in a couple of months time when the water is cooler and the fish are feeding more actively.
