MY FIRST TIME SOFT BAITING FOR GIANT TROUT & SALMON AT THE TEKAPO CANAL (New Zealand) - EP34

I have never fished for trout or salmon using soft bats before, so drove to the middle of the South Island of New Zealand to target giant fish in the Tekapo Canal. The canals are a very unique and special fishery, which produces incredible fish up to 45lb! After negotiating the treacherous Lindis Pass (and going through two black ice car crash sites), cast a soft bait into the canals and hook up first cast!
Every time we make it to the canals is a special day, regardless of how successful the fishing was. The MacKenzie Basin is breathtakingly beautiful, especially in the depths of winter with snow covered mountains in every direction. This trip was no exception, despite the afternoon ending with standing in the rain for hours.

try reeling a bit slower cos the trout are so used to being fed lots and not needing to do much work so they don't like chasing fast lures,soft baits etc

This the 1st video I have watched from your channel. I enjoyed it very much, for one thing not every day is a fish catching day and I am glad you showed that. I would have liked to see what sort of Spinner you were using as since been back in New Zealand I have found that most people think that everything that you cast that is either metal or lead is a Spinner. However the truth of it is actually if it has a rotating Blade normally on a Clevis that is a Spinner.. Those other one piece things are really called Spoons.. So what were you actually using Pal , a Spinner or a Spoon.???
