Arguably the best defender of All-Time. No matter the era winning 11 championships is incredibly inpressive & takes much more than talent on a team to accomplish. It takes an All-Time great unselfish leader & culture to win this much.

@harrygarris6921
@harrygarris6921 4 жыл бұрын
@@jarydhoats9264 There's no such thing as too much spacing. The problem is that there are very few centers who can shoot 3s and also play good defense. Both the Rockets and the Warriors would love it if they could find a starting center who could help space the floor the difference is just that when they can't the Warriors stuck with the traditional center and the Rockets said screw it we'll just go without one.

@Rk-xx1sg
@Rk-xx1sg 4 жыл бұрын
@@skimasktheslumpgod7684 that not the point , the whole league knew that wilt needed to lessen he's scoring wilt by no means is a good play maker he average maybe slightly above. Now look at ben Simmons in high school he actually shot the ball we know he can at least make wide open threes and should at least take the open ones, so Ben simmons shooting would be equivalent , he would get his intended reaction of successful "Ben simmons shot the three in 2022" for instance just like people do for wilt. But when you look at his championship run and he had plenty of very close winnable games his, playmaking was nowhere to be seen his assist year is practically a anomaly that serves as a talking point to refute his previous selfishness .

I'm a hardcore AI fan & that was one of my dreams. I've always felt he would've won a championship & had a better career under a Don Nelson or Mike D'antoni. Steve Nash was the one player I wanted him to play alongside. Back then, my dream was for him to get traded to the Mavs back in 2002 to play alongside Nash & Dirk. Like trade Nick Van Exel, Michael Finley, Eduardo Najera & a future 2nd round pick for AI & Aaron Mckie. Then in 2005, I wanted the 76ers to trade Joe Johnson, Qrich & a future 2nd rounder for AI & Kyle Korver. My dream was to have Steve Nash & AI play together.

another player that would be viewed as more valuable in todays game would be Robert Horry. he was a role player for most of his career but would easily be a consistent starter in todays game. Robert was a basically the ideal fit for a 3andD player. his statistics would be way higher than what they actually are. he would be statistically more along the lines of current gary trentjr or prime nic batum instead of his current statistical counterpart Danny Green or Trevor Ariza. just simply from shooting more and being his very reliable defensive self.

Best 3 players I think that would transfer better today. John Stockton, freedom to shoot more, tough defender and likely develops a better ball handle, he'd be better than the 90s version of himself. Pistol Pete- Ball handle, flash, ability to get hot and hit shots? Check. What held him back was his own game because the era didn't allow for great dribble moves and his teammates felt disrespected with his flashy moves. But in this era? He fits right in. Shawn Marion. Played a huge role on many of his teams, and could easily be a 4 or small ball 5 based on team needs. Who knows what his jumper becomes either, and a fun note about that is his college coach said his form was even worse than the one we saw in the NBA!

i love the Bill Russell love. Also, on the Iverson note, just...any of the top line scoring guards from the 2000s would benefit in the modern league. Tracy McGrady would benefit from the advanced health protocals...but also...spacing. He'd be so much better than he was, and he would have developed his 3 point game much more than he did. Michael Redd and Gilbert Arenas are two other dudes who were great shooters I could see being so mcuh better with spacing. They also struggled with injuries as mentioned for McGrady. Finally, of course if you go all time greats : Kobe and MJ would both also benefit from playing today [i think you already did a video on MJ, but just saying].

Modern sports medicine and being better prepared for life post-college/HS would have helped a bunch of people. And less coke. Specifically Clyde Drexler would have had a better 3pt shot and more spacing. Bob McAdoo. David Thompson (see less cocaine..) Kevin Johnson/Mark Price

I think Lamar Odom was like basically the basketball gods trying to create Magic 2.0, but failing. Instead, they kind of created the bridge between Magic and Lebron. Lamar is basically the prototype version of Lebron. Like Lamar is a VERY GOOD player, but he was missing a few things that kept him from being great, a lot of which was between the ears (mentality, bbiq, heart, work ethic etc.). Lebron ended up being slightly shorter, but built stronger and more athletic. They also fixed the bbiq problems with a patch update haha.

I would say Shawn Marion too. Dude could def play the small ball 5. Shit, he averaged 20, 11+ boards, 2 steals and damn near two blocks at 6’7” in his prime playing against 4’s that were skilled 5’s

I’ve got some worries about AI in the modern league actually. Like PG’s can be anywhere from 6’4 to 6’9 (if you include Ben Simmons and LeBron) and they’re like freaky athletic. AI is pretty athletic too, but he’s six foot barely (probably really like 5’10 or something) and sure we can assume he came up in an era where he learned to be a more efficient 3 point shooter, but getting to the rim was his bread and butter and undersized slashing PG’s just are really not the wave in today’s NBA. You’ve got some outliers like Kemba, and maybe the argument can be made that AI would be a higher scoring Kemba in today’s NBA, but is that better than what he was? Idk

AK47 would honestly be like a Pascal Siakam if I were to compare him to a raptor! Eats in the transition/fast break, pretty so,I’d jumpshot, and he was a quick and tall player like Siakam! And Siakam can guard the 1-5 to some extent, so I think the comparison makes sense

I don’t get the shooting argument for Odom. He grew up in a time where a good mid range jumper was key. He was inconsistent and inefficient from 10fr to the 3P line most of the time he was shooting less 40% from that range. So I’m not sure he would actually develop a real 3 point shot.

Wilt-Chamberlain should be on this list. During his time, basketball was much stricter than it is today so Wilt never fully tried to entertain since it was against the culture at the time. Imagine him entertaining while not holding his strength back on defense or for a vicious dunk...

Magic was a good shooter even back in the day though, his career percentages were held down by 'I only shoot 3s at the end of a quarter' shots. When people started actually shooting 3's in the 90s, he was like a 35+% 3P shooter.

in response to 5:00 to magic 's best three-point year in 1988 was better than every Jordan year aside when they moved the line back to 22 feet. magic shot 91 percent from the line one year, magic didn't like to shot but I believe he had the ability to shoot.

One thing that so many people overlook is that every player from the past would not only have access to all modern medicine, dieting, training, and so on. But they'd also have access to decades of evolution of the game. So let's say that Isiah Thomas played today. He would be an even better ball handler because he'd have been able to watch Tim Hardaway, Allen Iverson, etc. while also having the ability to palm the ball more without it being called a travel. That's just one example but this goes for every player of the past. If Larry Bird played in today's game he'd be shooting WAY more three pointers and also practicing WAY more three pointers. So all fo those long 2's would become 3's. All of these factors should be taken into account when comparing players from the past to players from today's era.
