Hello Dr. Ben Lynch, in what cases do you recommend Hydroxy Cobalamin Injections and what to do if B12 serum gets above 2000 pg/mL after only two Hydroxy Cobalamin injections? The dose was 1 mg per injection and spaced 1 week apart. The blood 🩸 test was done ✅ 2 months and 11 days after the first Hydroxy Cobalamin shot and I suspect it is possibly one of several reasons for daily Headaches and feeling of pressure inside of the skull 💀 What do I need to do to lower that level? Is this considered to be toxic? My PCP is just going to make me wait till my next appointment on June 30th. and I am still getting Headaches and weird feelings inside of my head... I hope Excedrin Tension Headache 🤕 would alleviate the pain! Than You!

On my 23andme Report regarding All b12 factors I had homozygous variants on the MTRR A66G, GIF, TNC1 and a single on the TNC2. Thankfully nothing on the FUT & MTR. Also many variants on the NOS2 & NOS3 genes for converting L-Arginine into Nitric Oxide. Hydroxocabalamin B12 has recommended, BUT I have many variants on the MAT gene, resulting in excess Methionine and B12 will convert homocysteine into Methionine, and with the variants will result in excess Methionine will the B12 even the Hydroxocabalamin make things worse? I recently had a VERY bad reaction to Hydroxocobalamin, just one 1000mcg sublingual dose... bad anxiety, almost to the point of panic attack... stomach pain, nausea... nasty!! The next couple of days, with very little eating, I noticed some significant abdominal bloating/distension and still have it several weeks later... my Docs did many tests, liver and kidney function, abdominal ultrasound, etc... so far all normal... saw a gastro Doc, but he was a total quack. No supplements seem to help. I also have pretty bad BPH, so maybe that is contributing... but have had this for a long time, with no abdominal distension... losing weight fast, hopefully due only to my lack of appetite... next up is a pancreas MRI... jeeze... any suggestions would be very welcome.

The methyl B12 caused severe bloating, abdominal pain, and diarrhea for me. I have IBS and histamine intolerance issues. Does anyone know which form would be more gentle for my situation - Hydroxy B12 or Adeno B12?
@endveganism83942 жыл бұрын
Adeno. I'm trying it out next week when it comes in. My mcv and mch were elevated. Also, try liposomal glutathione and also the other one he said. Just get them and try them and see how you feel. Methyl can lead to those issues if you have the MTHFR gene. You probably need to take adeno. I heard somewhere as well (not sure here) that methyl binds to B12 receptors blocking adeno and that it's BS. Adeno is what is needed. Not sure on hydroxy.

Brittle bones and joint problems bring to mind fluoride. Fluoride causes calcification of tendons, ligament and arteries. It also makes teeth and bones brittle and more likely to break. So I actually have no idea about the vitamin A problem. But it seems like A is an important vitamin. I think you can get it in organ meat, like liver. I definitely stay away from beta carotene though.

Sandi tollette, autoimmune disorders are highly related to vitamin a deficiency, however taking vitamin a has been shown to cause toxicity because it is not the same as the vitamin a in natural products. When you are deficient in vitamin a to begin with, you notice a lot quicker the adverse effects of taking vitamin a to begin with. How well do you tolerate carrots?
@paulharris98688 жыл бұрын
Autoimmune disorders are more than likely due to Gut issues, not a vitamin, though some may make the problem seem or even be worse. You should only take vitamins to target a issue or cofactor, not just to take it. Example: Hashimoto patients have low T4. T4 is needed to assist in the FAD cycle with riboflavin, so taking B2 might be good for a Hashi patient. I would ask why take the Vitamin A, that is the one vitamin that is usually very abundant in a healthy diet (assuming healthy?). Good luck.

@superturboblufer8 жыл бұрын
+Stephanie Wilkerson how you treat it?
@paulharris98688 жыл бұрын
Sorry late reply, but sounds like she used hydroxycobalamin because the COMT SNP will cause dopamine and other catecholamines to build up as COMT cannot clear them out, and hence often you end up with a over-methylated state. Since MethylB12 does not require a CH3 donor, it can make a COMT patient worse, but Hydroxyl still needs the methyl donor, and will serve to not only lower NO (assuming she needed that too) but will address the COMT issue by stablizing her methylation. Hope this makes sense. I have these two mutations +/+ so I know, cannot shut off brain or sleep well, and on top of that I have +/+ for CBS!

Can I take Grass Fed Beef Liver for my vitamin B12 deficiency?? I don't do well on B vitamins, my symptoms become worse
@improver18497 жыл бұрын
The reaction you’re experiencing has puzzled doctors for quite some time. Paradoxically, you may be undermethylated if you have adverse psychological reactions to B vitamins. Many of them reduce your sensitivity to neurotransmitters. Fantastic for overmethylated phenotypes that are overly sensitive, but a negative for undermethylated people that need to become more sensitive. You may want to stick to your grass fed beef or liver for b12, and try slowly adding betaine and enzymes at meal time to better digest your food (and thus increase methylation). You can also try SAM-e or methionine on an empty stomach daily to gradually increase methylation. Be aware that it takes quite awhile to correct. Up to 9 months under heavy supplementation. See a doctor trained in functional medicine, and preferably the Walsh method, for more help with this.

@jisyang8781 Жыл бұрын
No. Cyanocobalamin isn’t present at all in nature. Microorganisms produce only three - methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalmin, and adenosylcobalamin. And those are what your body needs. Cyanocobalamin was once thought to be naturally occurring too but later discovery revealed it was activated charcoal purification process that converted some B12 into cyano version thanks to cyanide in charcoal. Industry prefers cyano because of only one reason: extended shelf life. And that’s all. Your body doesn’t need cyano form. Actually once you ingest it your body will swap the cyanide CN out. And then presumably ‘detox’ the CN. Well I’m gonna just take shorter shelf life B12.
