I owned a black Bombay. I swear he was my soulmate. I got him at 8 weeks old from the shelter. He was never very far from me when I was home. His favorite place was on my chest when I was resting on the couch watching TV. He had the sweetest disposition. It has been almost 40 years and I still miss him.

That is so sweet:) I rescued my cat (or perhaps I should say he rescued me) at one of the worst times in my life. He was abandoned as a stray in the bushes near my home, I heard him crying for 3 nights straight, and finally I went out the neck morning and this this tiny little black kitten with tha most gorgeous gold eyes popped out of the bushes and came up to the porch where I was sitting. He was very shy but he eventually hopped up and started sniffing my hand and accepting me petting him and he immediately stole my heart. He is the first cat I’ve ever owned, in fact I never really liked cats before him ( now I adore them ) but over 2 years later, he is still my best friend.. such a great companion, I named him Buster :P

@pavan Trhere are lots of reasons why a kitten would be found without its mother outdoors. 1. The mother died. A cat mother has to leave her kittens to get food and, while doing so, can be hit by a car or attacked by a wild animal or another cat. 2. The kitten (or kittens) were dropped off in the neighborhood. Some people do not bother to spay or neuter their cats but do not want to deal with the kittens. The shelters get a lot of kittens, especially in the spring and summer, but there are also people who drop off unwanted kittens or cats in a neighborhood under the erroneous assumption that they will be okay, never realizing that they are vulnerable to attacks, cars and starvation. I found a kitten years ago underneath a car. He was hungry and scared and people had heard him meowing over the previous 24 hours.. I had to use tuna broth to draw him out. He was covered in fleas and probably would not have survived. If the mother is still around, the kittens would not be out in the open.

@Pavan Kumar the kitten was weak and she is still small after two years. So i think it was the weakest and probably rejected by mother. Edit: although she's small. She is healthy and very active.

Yes that's true , bcz we don't own a black cat , street cat comes to our home and he is very affectionate. When I don't pay him much attention he seeks attention from me he is simply adorable and affectionate. He is unique.

Our black panther cat found us 3 years ago when she came up to our porch on a cold, rainy, wintery day hungry, cold, and wet. She has been such an emotional support animal to my whole family and definitely a one-of-a-kind kitty. She is also my little shadow following me around the home all the time. She loves to go for walks without her leash and doesn't stray far from us. She is such a joy to have, and so loving.💚💜

I have an all-black cat with green eyes and he is the most affectionate cat I’ve ever had. He follows me everywhere and talks to me whenever I say hello. He will fall asleep in my lap and has only one bad habit, in that he chews plants. He is more like a dog than a cat - he waits outside my bedroom after he hears me wake up, waits at the door when he hears me come home. A great companion in every sense.

Same here...my black cat is so affectionate, he follows me to every room and is constantly wanting to cuddle. I'm amazed by him, he was a feral cat before and now he absolutely loves being held and kissed. He purrs the whole time.

My first cat is a black cat. I fostered him from the shelter. He was just eight weeks old and sickly - just one lb. He got better, and was up to 2 lbs. when I had to hand him back to the shelter for adoption. Well, he got sick again. So I decided to adopt him. One of the best decisions I ever made. He is the sweetest cat. Follows me everywhere. And like your cat, Neil, he has green eyes and is more like a dog than a cat. He waits on my enclosed porch waiting for me to come home from work every day. When I stub my toe and yell "ouch," he comes running to see if I'm OK. Simon doesn't chew plants, but chews electrical cords. SMH. He is 13 now. So glad I have him.

I had one of them. Balthazar. He liked to dance--you'd pick him up and hold up one of his paws. His other paw would be on your shoulder. He'd move his head so gracefully as we danced.

I just got engaged and I think my guy is undergoing the transition, lol. My Arwen (a black cat) actually slept on him yesterday. I was a tiny bit jealous, but thrilled. He also noticed a thing she does when she’s cold, where she tucks her nose under her tail when she’s curled up, and put his jacket over her, let her get settled and looked up at me and said, “Okay, now... that’s cute.” 😂 He also sometimes gets on her level, approaches her slowly, and sort of strokes the top of her head with his nose, then does the slow “I love you blink,” I taught him. It makes me so happy. 🤣 I also realized he’s perfect for me partially due to him randomly assigning her a male posh English accent and calling her Heronimous and Pigmalion, often praising her with, “That’ll do, pig.” If we ever have kids, they’ll be so friggin confused about what animal she actually IS. Heronimous she must stay, for the sake of the children. I love how cats don’t just serve as reminders of entire epochs of our lives, shepherding us from one life’s chapter to another, but they can actively bring us together. I love my Arwie so much, and now so does my Jon. ☺️

Mirror??!! Wow how did he come up with that? It's pretty cool. I named mine Azrielle. Ppl remember that name from the smurfs but I actually named her after the Arc Angel Azrael. I guess if you've seen the cartoon that name could fit that cat too. Interesting story about Azrael. I think the right name is important, even for an animal. It still describes their personality. You must've been "Mirror's" other side (or twin) to be accepted, that's how your husband knew.🤔

I remember when I was a kid our neighbor had a black cat that I loved. I wasn’t even a cat person but this cat acted like a dog. It loved being pet and getting attention as well as even playing fetch. Really one of the most unique animals I’ve come across. I definitely have a soft spot for black cats

My black cat of years ago died from cancer in her nose. Was sneezing a lot which we thought was cute at the time. Her inner eyelids were a little up but as a kid I didn’t realise this meant she was unwell. Parents weren’t too worried. I lost her when I was 19. Now 35. I still well up. On the morning before school she climbed into my lap gently and laid down, looked at me and purred. Parents took her to vets just to see what was up. She didn’t come home. I can cry about it like it just happened. Even though I now have 4 cats, 2 are black. She was special.

I have 2 black cats and used to have another one. I’ve learned that when you want pictures of them, take them outside. camera flash won’t do them justice. when you take them outside and photograph them you capture everything, they’re very beautiful and just as expressive as all other cats❤️

I moved into my new house last November and saw this gorgeous long haired black kitty outside. I figured she was someone’s cat. A few months later, after spotting her several times more, she decided to make my acquaintance by meowing at me from my neighbor’s tree. Seeing her up close revealed that she was so skinny and matted. I started feeding her, worked on getting her to trust me. Six months later, she’s lying on the pillow next to my head, purring like mad while I watch videos on KZbin. It took a while for her to fully acclimate to being a house cat. Named her Ivy. 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Our black cat passed away this May 2020. We had her for 15 years. Her name was Magic. She brought our family such love. When our dog passed away in 2016 she kept us together(she and our dog were close also so it hit her hard too, its true animals can grieve) So when she passed away this year it was just another reminder that 2020 is the worst year ever, we have another Cat that we rescued as a kitten so he was able to get us through our grief for her the way she did with our dog. I specifically chose a black longhair from the shelter - I love their witchy, supernatural vibe. He has gorgeous green eyes and I named him Shadow. @@char6081 May, a few days after the 16th but I don't rember the day exactly (it was a very bad and sad time for me) and we got him from the shelter when he was 3 months old. So we say his birthday is in May. Every year I gift him with a scratching tree, he likes them a lot.

I'm living with a terminal degenerative brain disease and am housebound, but I do still foster on occasion for the animal shelter where my niece works. Over the years some critters have come and gone, but on occasion one or two stick, which is how I ended up with my latest black kitty and a tuxedo kitty and two bunnies! It sure does hurt to let them go after you spend that much love and care on them, but the joy they will be giving someone else helps me bear the loss a little better. Waking up to all those furry little faces so excited to see Mama, the buns demanding boople snoot rubs and the kitties demanding me to turn on their morning TV show (aka open the curtains and the window) and they all play until I've had my coffee (the bunnies are free roam and will play with the kitties) and then it's feeding and treat times and play time followed by a lot of napping by all parties involved, including me after I've scooped boxes and given fresh food and water for everyone. It keeps me from being lonely and keeps me from being sedentary. They are my little fur babies, and they give me a reason to get up with a smile every morning! Fortunately if I am having a weak day my daughter helps out. She's a fine young lady. I have to say in spite of the Huntington's disease and EVERYTHING and EVERYONE it has ever taken from me, I am very blessed. When you see how much God's creatures love you just for being you, you understand the love of the Father for you, for how much greater are we, who are fearfully and wonderfully made, than any of His creations. You know what unconditional love is, know you probably don't deserve it, but there you have it. I think animals are God's greatest ambassadors.

My favorite cat that we ever had was all black. When my children were teenagers and would bring their friends home, he would take a turn on each of the kid's laps and make sure that everyone got to pet him. He would purr all the time and he would climb into my bed every morning at 6 am (not 5:45 or 6:05) he woke me up at the exact same time seven days a week. I miss him.

Watched this with my little black princess sitting next to me😊💕 she used to be very shy, didn't want to be petted, was very skinny and often hissed because her pre-owners abused her, my sister saved her and now 10 years later she's a very affectionate sweetheart that's propably a bit too spoiled(and turns into a little drama queen when we aren't fast enough to serve her food😂) - whenever I have a bad day and/or feel sick she immediately comes to me and comforts me (sits on my lap, loud purring, etc..) I ended up with 5 kittens and the mama ferals and the one I really like and love is Little Black Pepper. The most sweetest funniest hyper little happy cat you would ever want to meet. I never owned a cat until mama showed up then brings 5 kittens after about a month and half. And they melted my heart and we fell in love with them all. He was the easiest to trust me and the tabby that looks like mama. But he is filled with so much joy.😻😻❤❤❤😺

I rescued a black kitten last year. And she sat on my shoulder almost the entire day everyday. She would climb on my shoulder when im sitting or whenever im standing still. I gave one of the kittens to the vet assistant and one to a friend of my cousin. I now have four. Two are short hair and two are long hair. I like black cats, I think they are lucky cats to have..

We have a rescue who was found by a neighbor in middle of the road with the body of his momma, still a little kitten, neighbor knew we were cat people and gave him to us since they couldn't. Now we have a little Mochi running around everywhere with his adopted family.
