“complexity is a function of familiarity” is an incredible insight! it also applies to math and other disciplines as well. christmas music is some of the only popular music that utilizes complex harmonies anymore. nice video!

Oh man I couldn't agree more! I think the music-learning community sometimes forgets that music-learning is still just learning at the end of day. And there are so many great insights and resources about learning in a more general sense that can be applied to music.

I know this song. I think the "has begun" melody is a tritone (as it says, three whole tones apart).

Hey! That's a classic cliché and I'm happy to share, everyone should know it! If you think about it chordally- I'm playing Dm7-Cº-C. But I don't know if that's the best way to think about it. I'm putting the note C on top, and playing D and F below. Then I'm moving the D and F up chromatically, a half step each time. Try it out and let me know if you get it!
