just started getting into fishes got a 29 gallon to test the waters love the combos in here especially number 1, was also thinking for 29 is it possible to have no small fish and maybe like 2 or 3 bigger size fish ? or is the tank to small

Bit of a squeeze but a single Pearl Gourami, Bristlenose Pleco and Angel could work out if it is only those 3.

No. Had them in with Angels at one stage. It is the Serpae Tetras that you have to watch. They can be nippy and look sort of similar.

Sir do you have an idea on diamond tetras and ornate/bentosi tetras and their tendencies to fin nip

I haven't found Diamond Tetras to be fin nippers. Males spar a bit lile they all do but they leave other fish alone. Don't know about Bentosi but they are very similar to Rosy Tetras so I think they may probably be ok. Serpae tetras are the only ones I know to be fin nippers and in a big group in a big tank they are often ok.

So you think I could have an angelfish in a 29 gallon and a small group of corries and some kuhli loaches? I'm getting a large shipment of plants from ADA, so it will be heavily planted. Would this be overstocked?

Juvenile will be fine but long term, depending on the shape of the tank (Angelfish need a high tank, at least 40cm 18 inches) a single one might be ok but it is a squeeze. I would rather skip the angel, they do best in a 55 gallon upwards.

@droeksonfishkeeping ok, thank you. I decided to just get the kuhli loaches and corydoras. I'm not sure what else I should get for the mid water column and the top water column. Do you have any suggestions? I'm looking for smaller South American fish 🐟
