It's impressive how Orcas are basically the only creatures on the planet that are capable of handling anything with their natural physical abilities alone. That clip of that orca ramming that great white at full speed looked insane. It was going so fast, with so much mass behind it, that it made the shark look helpless. The power they put into their tail strikes is incredible too. Their intelligence overall is just fascinating.

I think you forgot to mention this but a study was conducted where orca calls were played to white sharks. The sharks were cautious and maybe even fearful of the shark eating orca calls but when the calls of chill fish eaters were played, the sharks calmed down and some actually approached the source of the noise

During the sperm whale section you forgot to mention that orcas actively avoid bull sperm whales and are even pushed off food sites by them even though bulls are more solitary than the females. It’s kinda like hyenas and lions on the African savanna.
@TreetheSmelt
@TreetheSmelt 3 ай бұрын
A study also concluded that both species avoid each other. Bull sperm whales are actually more likely to avoid areas with orcas in them, which could possibly mean that even they are at risk of predation (maybe). Orcas will also mostly only target females and calves as prey obviously

@@TreetheSmelt orcas will take out old and injured/weakened bulls but avoid healthy adults in there prime, tsuki didn't mention this in the video but the sonar of a sperm whale (esp a bulls) is the loudest sound a animal can make in the animal kingdom, infact at close range there sonar blasts can damage/destroy blood vessels and even cause blood clots which can lead to medical issues like a pulimary embolism and can rupture human ear drums underwater so imagine what it does to orcas and other animals that have evolved specifically hear and communicate via sonar via recking havoc on there sonar/hearing systems in there bodies

Southern Elephant seals are odd because they are both intelligent and very large and well armed mammals. Full grown adults can be 20ft long which is 66% the size of the largest Killer Whales. If the males would stop fighting each other they could successfully repel killer whale pod attacks imo.

Hi 👋🏻 Tsuki I have an interesting 🤔 idea 💡 for your potential video? Since you talk about invasive species list, how about a video 📹 about American native insects that fight against invasive insects? My personal favorite American insect would be the praying mantis preying on invasive spotted lanternflies. These spotted lanternflies damaging towards trees 🌳 and fruit crops in the East Coast. They got here in America due to accidental shipment from Asia 🌏 and they were spotted in Pennsylvania since 2014. Praying mantises are keeping their numbers under control. I haven't seen a single lanternfly since my garden is filled with praying mantises. If praying mantises weren't here, the invasion of spotted lanternflies could've been much worse. We should be thankful that praying mantises are here. 🙏🏻

Other nature videos have said that the Sperm Whale emits very loud sounds (which can be lethal to divers) and that this intense sound could scare away some Orcas. Sources say Female Sperm Whales with calves can form a circle with their tail fins facing outward to defend against Orcas and that grown male Sperm Whales are almost never attacked by Orcas.

11:01 That was brutal. Looks like the shark saw him at the last second and tried to move or brace itself.

He was probably sensing the approach. The shark was just slow to react, in a situation where it managed to successfully attack, the orca would probably have a very unpleasant fight.

It’s fortunate that Orca, for some reason, don’t kill people either mistakenly or due to predation.

Orcas just beat every ocean animal with intelligence alone and form groups that help the old survive longer. They rule the sea because of being the apex predator.

Everyone likes to hype up the sizes of great white sharks when talking about the orcas preying on them, but hardly anyone mentions how a single average orca adult is over twice as massive as an average adult great white
@majorgalah

that and, in the parts where most of the shark hunting happens the orca population are some of the largest in the world, reaching upwards of 8 meters in length, these are NOT comparable to the 6 - 7 meter orcas.

Doesn't change the fact that we still have no evidence that Orcas have preyed on any Great White longer than 14ft. The average size of the Great Whites preyed upon in South Africa seems to be between 8-11ft long.

2:37 is a New Zealand orca. It's the only one that hunts stingray. I quite like sharks, 11:02 when it suddenly notices danger and turns its head, sad. I don't like orca that hunt sharks. Nor other dolphins that play with their food. I have a young cat.... but she's not an ocean cat. It seems worse because ocean cats are so much bigger, and not fluffy and cuddly at all. 9:52 sharks, like tuna, and a lot of other predators, follow the bait fish that travel the currents. Normally this current travels up the west coast of South America, where a lot of seal, and penguin, breeding colonies are, before travelling west across the Pacific tropical zone. During an El Nino event, this current changes direction, travelling up the east coast of Australia, and west coast of New Zealand. This means that sharks too are inhabiting these areas, and I have taken notice that shark attacks on humans usually only occur at these times. El Nino also brings much wetter weather to these areas as well. New Zealand, where I am, is having a very mild and wet winter, as well as a rare cyclone much earlier in the year. Australia usually gets floods, though I have not noticed it this year I have in the past. Another association with El Nino is that because there is a lack of this moisture bringing El Nino for almost a decade, Australia often has major bush fires in the year just prior. This happened a year ago, and I remember a terrible fire happening in 2008, then major floods the next year. I have no idea if there have been any studies about El Nino and the links between shark attacks, fires, or floods... this is just something I have noticed, and looked into. Does anyone know of any? Does anyone think I should try myself?
