I am super excited. I have the 2001 model. Purchased it for a third of what it was worth, but discovered it was not running properly. I did a tune up and inspected all components. I tried it out this afternoon, of course i had to go out on the boat because you need it to be under load. anyway I am still experiencing problems. I am going back out tomorrow and going to try adjusting this screw. Thanks for this post.

Great Video Ralph! I had the same problem (runs fine, but bogs down when given more gas) with my 4HP Yamaha and started using gas that doesn't have ethanol in it. This completely fixed my problem.

Great video! Is there hole you can spray Fogging OIl into for winterizing? Directions say to spray into the carburator.....

Hi! Can you convert it on 5hp or 6hp?
@fje1379 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. My 15 hp has a rebuilt carb, New gas fuel line assembly, new filter and it's now turning off on me at certain rpm's. The only thing i have not done is touch the air fuel mixture behind the brass plug. Do you think it needs to be adjusted? I heard they cover it so that people wont mess with it, should i do it to fix my problem?

fje137If it is YOUR motor, why do you not have the right to "mess with it"? The claim reeks of the "Dealer Only" attitude that sucks money out of owners' pockets.I am not familiar with the 15 hp, but you might want to check the fuel pump mechanism. Also check all fuel lines...even a tiny crack or hole will sometimes suck air or make the mechanism loose vacuum, weakening the fuel pressure. If it checks out, then I would adjust the fuel-air mixture screw. BEFORE you change the setting of the screw, note down where the setting is currently set. If the performance gets worse, you can then bring it back to the initial setting. If it gets better, Yay!Hope this helps...let me know.Ralph

Bandit Bot Also, you might want to find NO ETHENOL fuel....

do you have an example of a new carburetor repairkit ... I ask you for a photo of the example. because in my country it is very difficult to get the device and I have ordered it but they are asking for examples and serial numbers as examples in order to look for them

Hi Ralph, great post. I also have a 4HP 4 stroke with a broken fuel filter.. have to replace it. To replace it I have to detach the fuel tank (it also needs a new hose) but I have no idea how I loosen the bottom screw ..do you have a suggestion?
@thestar96310 жыл бұрын
how do you replace the fuel filter?
@nielssiemons23310 жыл бұрын
thestar fairly easy at the end. you can see filter, and get it off the hose. The new one should be small. There is not much room and filters have a flow direction.

hi, this adjustment can increase power? turn 4hp to 6hp?
@travelingwithrick4 жыл бұрын
Yes same power head, just different carbs.
@ArmandoBN4973 жыл бұрын
@@travelingwithrick so doing this will increase it to 6hp? Or do you have to replace the whole carburetor?
@bsrktm111 жыл бұрын
Did that actually fix the problem? That screw ONLY adjusts idle mixture. If the other jets and nozzles are clean, that screw should NOT need any adjustment- that's why it is sealed. Technically, it could be illegal to remove the plug and adjust it. LOTS of carbed small 4strokes have a similar sealed adjustment screw. Adjusting that screw might be needed under EXTREME conditions of high altitude or very hot or cold weather. Drain the fuel from the carb with the drain screw if the motor sits. That'll help keep it clean.

Not illegal right? Just voids the warranty? Also I feel this jet may need to be removed just to clean that galley. Thank you for the video btw :)
