Yamaha 9.9 Head Removal, Gasket replacement. 4 stroke, long shaft sailboat motor. Plugged with salt.

Today I remove the cylinder head and replace the head gasket on a Yamaha 9.9 outboard motor. The motor was full of salt from running in ocean waters.

Hey have you heard if removing the head bolts can be risky? Do they ever snap at the block? I have a blocked and cracked exhaust cooling port and would like to remove it and weld / repair, but could also run it till it blows.

Hi. Great video! I have exactly the same problem on a 2000 T9.9. Looks identical. Approximately how many hours do you have into the head removal and clean out? Did you use anything other than a pick to clean out the crud?
