My carp mix is sweet feed, oats, jello, corn, and corn syrup. Its a bit sticky but it holds extremely well once the oats soak up corn syrup and it dries some. I get constant activity, i just need the hook up rate to get better.

We went with a catfish guide on the Ohio River early last year. Soybeans were his secret weapon. When they are loading beans onto the barges, they spill some. He said the catfish come running. We anchored near barges and he threw out handfuls of Soybeans. He pulls up to a barge and looks for spillage on the deck to see if it was corn or beans.
@KayakCatfish2 ай бұрын
That’s very interesting. I have seen cats come up for corn on one of the barge offloading sites here before.

I’d like to see kidney beans versus canned corn. In a Catfish and Carp video, Luke found a spilled can of kidney beans on the bank. So he did a quick test of canned corn versus kidney beans for panfish. Surprisingly the kidney beans beat the canned corn for panfish.

These kayak outfitters need to start doing demo days again. I wish I could have paddled the Crescent CK1 before purchasing it. Several people have had large men stand on the bow of the XTR130. Gene Jensen is one of them.

Hi Justin. I'm just curious if you've thought about using bait runner reels for carp fishing? I personally use these so my main drag is set where I want it and the other drag is set to allow the fish to run.
@KayakCatfish2 ай бұрын
I used some bait runners when I went on the trip to Texas a couple years ago. They function well but I don’t really like how bulky they are. I’ll probably stick with regular spinning reels.

This might be a stupid question. Does the fake corn float? You said you were going to stop using it and I was wondering if the corn kept the hook up a little.

Some of the fake corn does float. The brand I have been using is a slow sink model.

I say we do a little zip tie in the carp fin to see from trip to trip if you catch the same one would be interesting

I honestly think that would get people to watch and stick through the whole video just to see if you catch the same fish

I believe that each pack bait that's created and used are mainly for the water being fished. I could use that recipe here in California and probably not have any luck to where the bait the fish are used to getting here wouldn't work there. Just my opinion.
