when my niece was about 9 yrs old, she really, really loved SU & garnet specifically. she saved up allowance money for weeks to afford a t shirt from hot topic with garnet holding ruby and sapphire on her shoulders that said "love is love". she bought it in an XXL because she "never wanted to grow out of it". she's in high school now, and happily out as bi. i will always have such a special place in my heart for this show for giving her such a wonderful role model to look up to as a kid with a homophobic dad. thank you sugar ❤️❤️

My biggest hope is that Steven Universe broke the mold for what cartoon network execs see as acceptable. Archetypally, that's what he does in the show, so that should in theory echo out. Art imitates life, life imitates art. Obviously it was Rebecca Sugar and her team breaking the mold (I'm not insane lol....well, not THAT insane), but they used the show as a vessel for that. That way, more artists will come out of the woodwork and not be afraid of their shows getting completely ruined by corporate washing. I Mean, were still getting shows trying to imitates family guy, which was an imitation of Simpsons. It's because of corporate trying to recreate magic for money. They don't get that the more control they give up, the more people will see passion and respond positively. They're so short sighted.

It is the first time ever that I see in a show, a situation that happens to queer girls at least once, when the girl they have feelings for loves a guy. This means a lot, for once seeing a character struggling with this things, it really helps ❤ Here in Italy this cartoon was not valorised at all and now I understand why, episodes with queer things are absolutely banned from kids tv shows, but even seeing this at 20 yr old is healing, trust me this show has a lot to teach to us about how to handle our own and others’ emotions, how to treat people, how to treat ourselves.

The thing is tho its a kids show. If you want all this in it make it more for adults and im betting it would be easyer to air more ep with more adult themed. You have to remember decided to go any kids network none an adult network and none of this is for kids I understand that can be difficult though comprehend for some I have no issues with the show just who the target audience is for kids don't need to have any of those. And like I said if you can get on like adult swim or something you can go full force with the way you want to write the episodes giving you the fullest of what you want for your series. Just remember age dictates quite a bit and what can be shown
