No right to death means no rights at all. If you are not allowed to die you are being treated as property.

Better Never To Have Been and The Human Predicament are both amazing books. If one doesn't choose to be born, one should at least have the right to die. Imagine all the homeless people that would choose to die to euthanasia if it was more accessible, cheaper, comfortable, and perhaps even enjoyable. Imagine all the people in their old age or who are suffering from a medical condition they feel is not worth fighting anymore who would want to have access to this form of euthanasia.

The amount of comments in favor of this give me hope for the future. This is our movement. Our revolution of the ages. This is the battle that will need to be fought tooth and nail in the upcoming centuries. The final freedom of humankind. The right to determine the course of one's own life. One's own fate. One's own end. If you are all as passionate as I am, I vow unto you, that I will make this occur. Though Art. That is the way. Through literature Through cinema. I will unveil a masterpiece of the ages that will transform the future generations. It will move. It will pierce. It will shatter the minds of all. It will be one that transcends the very barriers that prevent the self autonomy of the individual. Over a hundred years ago, no one would have imagined the right of reproductive freedoms to make a breakthrough in society. Over a hundred years ago, no one would have imagined same sex matrimony to be legalized in many countries. Who is to say that euthanesia for all will be an impossible feat to accomplish? Writers, get your pens. Painters, like Goya's caprichos make it true. Singers and bards, go and seduce this world's souls. Directors, start your crew. Rebel. Shake the status quo. The world is perfect for the taking. The order is rapidly fading. It is crumbling, slow, but steady. Never before has there been a generation so opposed to breeding. Never before has the world been so keen to absurdity. The systems of the world are failing. It was always so bleak, but now there is no veil. One was denied agency in being born. But choosing if that was a fitting decision should lie solely on the individual. And if the quality of life is lacking, then it is one's proper and given right to start packin

Thank you so much for this very interesting interview. It would be great to have Professor Benatar back on again to specifically have an extended discussion on nonvoluntary assisted suicide because that to me is one of the hardest questions in practical ethics.

Nonvolunary assisted suicide? What do you mean? Someone helping you kill yourself without you wanting their help?

The only reason I can think of as to why we don't have a right to die because then at least 50% of humans would choose to die peacefully and seeing them, even more would choose that . Why would any leader / powerful person want that ? Think about it....if u were a leader, you would want a lot of slaves . Why would you let them die so easily because you know most of them would choose death if they had an easy , painless and a guaranteed way to do so.

The distinction professor Benatar makes of psychological condition vs somatic condition is totally false, and in his example even more so, depression is as biological as disease as Diabetes, if you're no convinced by this watch the lecture of Robert Sapolsky on Depression. Severe depression and other severe psychiatric disorders are one of the nastiest conditions a human being can experience, I think I would favour even more the argument pro-euthanasia and assisted suicide

I agree, I am diabetic, in end stages of disability, no legal rights to get it where I live, arizona. My poverty is another issue. I have a suicide plan, to show mercy on myself, soon. Languishing in pain is not my wish. For anyone.

@@elainebraindrain3174Dear friend. Please excuse this comment if you think it inappropriate. If you don't know them I might suggest that you look at videos by Dr Jason Fung and Dr Ken Berry amongst others . I don't know about your medical situation but their advice reversed my pre diabetes . Dr Fung in particular is a specialist in advanced kidney disease related to diabetes . Best wishes to you .

The only people that I feel should not have access to euthanasia is people who have young children. Otherwise, it should be accessible to everyone no matter their reason.
