Although this vid is aimed at the age 3 to 10 year old crowd, anybody can use it as the authoritative Master Chef's ( that's me!) guide to making French Toast.
Total prep time (excluding the 5 minutes for frying) is about 30 seconds.
To review:
1/4 cup of milk, 1 egg , and 3 small slices of bread per person to be served. Mix in bowl. Then add bread & let bread slices soak for a minute or 3.
( In this vid I forgot to add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the egg-milk mix- but this would give it a nice exotic tang.)
Fry in butter (or your choice of cooking oil) with cover on till brown on each side.
Serve with syrup or honey
If you want to get fancy, cover the hot toast with sour cream, or whipped cream or cream Cheese. Then just before serving, slather on any flavor of Jelly, Jam, marmalade, apple sauce or whatever you have laying around. A side dish of hot bacon, sausage, hamburger or even a pork chop is a nice touch, but not necessary. Here I used a spicy Italian Sausage,
"Tipo Napoli" (Naples Style).
Happy to see any comments like my kid's who said: " I'd use peanut butter instead of cream cheese..." Tell me your variation.
