I love your show. Here’s my breakfast special I make when company is coming sometimes I do it in the crockpot but mostly in the oven in a 9 x 10. The first layer is hashbrowns on the bottom, 2nd layer, crumbled Jimmy Dean sausage. 3rd layer… Sausage gravy, (premade in packets, or cans.) pepper and salt, 4th layer… 10-11 (mixed) eggs with a little milk or cream, last top with cheese of your choice. Bake at 3:50 for around 40 minutes or until it’s not jiggly anymore. I really hope you make this on your video show. The two packets of gravy I use really keeps everything from being dried out. And who doesn’t like gravy over their sausage and potatoes? 😊 note; you can buy those little packets of sausage gravy at Kroger’s, they’re very cheap and really good with a lot of pepper.😊

So should we thaw the biscuit first?
@WhistlingPineTree6 ай бұрын
@@susievanderweele7577Those frozen biscuits normally are cooked while frozen. I made another breakfast casserole where the recipe called for refrigerated Grands canned biscuits and the biscuits did great and were cooked thoroughly. So instead of thawing the frozen, just use canned biscuits. I don’t know how they would do in this recipe-the cooking time might need to be shorter since biscuits are not frozen.

I make a similar thing but with the crescent roll dough out of the tube. This looks good but I have to question whether the biscuits all cook all the way through from frozen. The crescent rolls I use are done at just about the right time in regards to all the other ingredients, so I don't see how frozen biscuits would cook properly without the eggs and cheese getting overdone. I suppose I'll give it a chance with a half batch and see how it goes. These are pretty good biscuits too. I prefer them to the canned ones. They're closer to a homemade biscuit.
@nicole6401 Жыл бұрын

I just cooked this and kept your comment in my mind. After cooking for 30 minutes and serving a couple of people, I checked the biscuits and they were raw and doughy-just like you thought. Put everything back in the dish-back into oven for another 15 minutes but this time covered loosely with foil so cheese would not burn and middle biscuits still raw doughy. The outer biscuits seemed done so we were able to eat that. I had even cut the biscuits quantity down from her 17 to my 12 so the biscuits would not be squished. Next time, I will definitly cook the biscuits before putting in dish. I didn’t see others complaining of this so maybe it was just me but thank goodness I had read your comment and checked for doneness.

You know, this is what I have to say to all the haters out there: this is exactly the kind of meal that gets overworked and overwhelmed moms, dads, and grandparents raising their grandkids out of the fast food rut so they can save a few pennies and enjoy a home-cooked meal. I don't believe Kristin billed this as a healthy meal anyway. But it's leaps and bounds better than fast food and a whole lot cheaper!! Also, since when are eggs, turkey sausage, and homemade fluffy biscuits unhealthy??? It may not be right for every diet so if that's the case, move on!! It takes zero talent and no conscience to leave a critical comment. Let's spread more kindness in this world, and if you can't do that it's best to follow grandma's advice: if you don't have anything nice to say to someone DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!
