A fitting tribute to my Grandpa Nate a lifelong harmonica player. l all of a sudden truly regret not learning sooner and playing with him before he passed. I have played every day since.

I'm using lip blocking as shown here kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGXQdYCAr9ihpbc Tongue blocking is great, most importantly for blues and for adding chordal sounds to melodies like here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6rHn5ynect0nJYsi=Jz8dYe_tesIa31On

Luke, it's really amazing, espeicially when blusifying from various position . BTW, I am so curious how to bending 7 hole as "Tyuh"? It seems part of B5 sounds and so quickly go to C6. The blow is nearly impossible bending. Am I wrong with that?

So how do you know where to start for each position IF you’d like to dive more in depth on them?? Are the positions basically like learning all the modes or no? I have a limited knowledge of musical theory from study of pedal steel so I’m not completely ignorant of everything. 😂
@Harmonicacom5 ай бұрын
There is a relationship between positions and modes, which I talk about here: forum.harmonica.com/t/modes-and-positions/8127?u=luke But since I posted that, I learned that positions really just refer to ROOT NOTE. Because utilizing bends you can play in different tonalities. For example, 2nd position is "naturally" mixolydian. But using bends, you can also play Dorian in 2nd position. Just one of many examples. So position just designates where your root note is.

I love to learn the Chromatic harmonica after having listened to hundreds of videos by now.. both are interesting but the Chromatic got so much more potential that if I must start somewhere it feels as if it makes more sense to learn to play Chromatic first and in the future add diatonic as a thing for blues... but both are lovely for sure! just wonder if you can teach the chromatic as well? thanks!

Don't you worry, this is normal problem that most beginners experience! 👌🏼 These are the tips for a getting good -2: 1.) Let gravity lower your jaw so that it's totally relaxed and in a nice "aw" vowel shape, your teeth should be far apart from each other 2.) Keep the back of your tongue down, like it is when you yawn. Make sure it's not in the "Kk" zone (how your tongue is when you say a "Kk" consonant.) 3.) Nice steady, GENTLE, airflow. Most beginners (and many intermediate and advanced players) use WAY to much pressure. Hope that helps! 😎
