Something I never knew and only learned recently is that the slight bowing up with a suspension bridge serves no structural purpose. It could just as easily be built with a downward bow or even perfectly flat and the only reason they all have upward bow is to comfort people. Apparently people would feel less comfortable and secure any other way because it would appear to be sagging or weakening. Just thought that was cool.

Cable stay bridges are faster to build anyway but where they really make building it easier is when spanning high, high above the ground. Because unlike the suspension bridge no large cables need to be taken across the gap to the other side before building the road deck. Cable stats can actually build out a section at a time from the towers and each new section becomes the footing for the cranes to life and attach the next piece. It’s a crazy sight the further it extends out.

A very nice explanation keep, could you please explain more on the factors for Engineers to consider when selecting the correct design for a particular bridge, among suspension, arch, cable stayed and beam
