1942-43 ! At that stage of the war, the Japanse attempt to invade India had been defeated long ago and I guess it was obvious that the Japanese ground forces were outstretched and very busy on the Pacific islands. The air raid in Dec. 1942 (at 8:00 ) could have been judged as what it was, a single event. Enough time to return from sheer panic to sound and circumspect measures. What an intentional ignorance and disrespect to humans and to the society. And what a purposely installed dis-care for and letting-down of the subjects! Incredible. They'd never have done this to any European people ! (Exchange test for proving racism.) Thanks for reminding us of this crime. I'm German and will certainly touch my own nose. But nect time when talks may turn to the mass murders of Hitler and Stalin I will mention Churchill, too.

You forgot Hirohito. Btw he got away with absolutely everything after the war and even served as Emperor after the war until 1970ish.

@@mrwhips3623 True. And long is the list of criminals during wartime who got along with their past. In Germany after 1945, former nazis were among the judges, officials and federal ministers. A man called Filbinger even became Prime Minister of a sub-state.

What to expect from the descendant of the Duke of Marlborough during War of Spanish Succession? For any serious historian, ally worship should be completely out of the question regarding WW2, ugly conflict.. with very few winners.

this is truly awfull; winston churchill killed millions of indians for reasons of pure hatrid; if this man is a hero just because he was against hitler; then stalin was also a hero; you must decide for yourself if that means both were or neither was. I have made up my mind that neither was. the images of what bengal looked like in 1943 are the true face of the british empire; and every british person should be forced to confront them. churchill even called bengalis "overfed" after seeing similar images; which is the absolute last word that comes to mind when describing people so close to death by starvation that they look like skeletons with human flesh glued on them. these images look like concentration camps.

@@William-u5l-u7g because I have read history properly with the surrounding context, it's easy to spot bs when they miss key details and alot of the arguments are based in quote mining while ignoring all the other ones that prove the opposite, constantly missing context etc. It's just a grift used by the nationalists/political class to blame someone else instead of the combination of Japanese invasion limiting food imports and the greed/incompetence of locallly (aka them) elected officials, Churchills fault could be said to be not getting rid of the viceroy sooner which when he did quickly ended the famine as the old one was reluctant to use his powers to interfere and oceride the locals. Plus a whole bunch of other reasons like Churchill being told contradicting things about the situation and being busy with fending off a German invasion etc etc.

Nitwit! Churchill only finally started shipping real relief to Bengal after the Americans put pressure on him to do so (because they were even appalled by the bad press)! And if what he said about "Indians", quote mining or not, isn't revealing what is! (So FU "BS")

@@neglectedhistories3264You state Churchill 'murdered 4 million' people. That is quite a claim. Firstly you're mentioning a scorched earth policy. Any army would do the same, you're confusing rice denial policy and boat confiscation with a plan to murder, as you put it, 4 million people. You seem to forget the Japanese were a fascist government who had no hesitation to cause genocide in China, there is no reason to believe they wouldn't do the same in India. But you seem to think it would be OK to allow the Japanese to invade the whole of India. But like you say, there would the odd massacre here and there. Perhaps we shall forget about the nanking massacre. Oh I mean genocide. The famine was complicated and indeed terribly sad. You fail to mention that food was imported to India, 1 million tonnes of food, ordered by Churchill, in fact he went through great lengths to get food delivered and it was delivered from commonwealth states, mostly from Australia, Canada and Iraq. The causes of the famine were caused by : 1: Hindu / Muslim food traders hoarding food, to increase profits, this caused food inflation to sky rocket, making rice or whatever stocks unaffordable to the average person. 2: you rightly so stated refugees came from Burma, 500 thousand in fact. This caused more pressure on existing food stocks. 3: in times of food shortages, the provincial bengal government would import food from Burma, but they couldn't as they were annexed. 4: There were U Boats everywhere, as well as the imperial Japanese navy. It doesn't need explaining the royal navy was overwhelmed. There was a ship shortage. 5 : you fail to mention that it was not easy to import food into the bay of Bengal. Simply because there was the IJN lurking around. 100 thousand tonnes of shipping was sunk in the bay of Bengal in 1943 alone. 6: a cyclone and flooding certainly failed the harvest, exasperating the situation. 7 :You seem to think Churchill caused genocide. Churchill wasn't even responsible for the day to day running of the Raj. Matters of food was down to India, as per the India government act 1935. He was busy trying to fight a war. There are many more factors. Churchill didn't cause the death or murder 4 million people as you spectacularly put it. Why would he even plead with Roosevelt for food if he wanted to murder people. Your video doesn't make sense. You may think you video is factual but you casually missed out alot of truths and put out alot of half truths.
