It's so easy to ignore the reality of a company's culture. Just by becoming more conscious of this, we'll be more likely to thrive!

I really enjoyed hearing your advice. I currently am a social work major in my bachelors program. I have a question for you, I am trying become a licensed clinical social worker as well. Did you have to complete school beyond a masters program?
@ManickaThomas4 жыл бұрын
No to begin as a Clinical Social Worker, you will need a Masters Degree. This is for the United States where I live. But no, you do not have to go beyond a Masters degree to become a licensed clinical social worker.

Thank you for this! New viewer to your channel---Im a caseworker, and about to begin an MSW program. I recently turned down a job that required transporting clients in my own personal vehicle and work with others who take on the "superhero" complex/lending clients money, etc. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm not doing enough for my clients, but all I can think about is the liability behind doing things like that; not to mention establishing appropriate boundaries with my clients. Can't wait to see more from your channel! Would love to see a a video based on obtaining licensing hours and some of the challenges that may go along with that! 💙

😳 I worked for a domestic violence shelter with a executive director like that.. it caused tension between us because he would push those ideas on me. I stayed firm and ended up leaving because of the tension but it was for the best.

Great tips! I love the tip of not staying in a position too long. As a teacher, I've worked in a few schools, and although moving schools wasn't always my choice, it has always actually ended up beneficial to me.

I would really appreciate having a conversation with you about this! (I think I would do great in this field). I want to give Sociology a shot. I’m just scared for what it might bring. I don’t really have support, I’m being told if I’m capable, etc and I’m having my abilities tested. I would love to talk to someone on the lines!!! Of this work
@ManickaThomas4 жыл бұрын
If you don't have support I would stay connected to your University staff and advisors. They should be able to help you figure out the areas of your life where you need clarity. Fear or being scared will always hold you back. You may need to do some deeper level work to discover the root cause of that fear.

Hi Manicka., I’m 18 and will be off to University soon.....I’m not sure what I want to do. Everyone in my family is working in some type of Healthcare. Although, I’m different and that is not what I plan on doing. It’s just not my thing. I’m really good at writing and speaking, I believe I have abilities to be in a field where I can use my voice, stand my ground, etc. I love the idea of Social Change (Sociology).
@ManickaThomas4 жыл бұрын
I would definitely say go with your own passion and interest. Do the thing that brings you joy and inspiration, not just what has been traditionally done in your family. This is going to be your life and your career choices and no one will have to do the work everyday but you... so make sure it is something you have a passion for doing. If you love to speak and write, look into ways that you can integrate that into your work.

As a social worker don’t you think to emphasize that is an Advice for black girls social workers was unnecessary? When I started looking for advices my search was simple social worker advices independently of race or religion. For someone who works with a community this shouldn’t be labeled. Thanks, good advices.
