The healing looks great! Those scars will lighten up with time. You're doing so well. You've had a really positive outlook throughout the whole process which I think has helped a lot. It's definitely quite an ordeal. I admire you.

I’m so glad you’re doing great post op, and I’m glad pt, scar recovery, and overall stability are so much better. I got my IT band lengthened in March and surgeries aren’t fun but it’s so nice to have one less pain problem (it was literally popping out and confused many doctors but was one of the main reasons we figured out my Eds)

Last year was the year of knee surgeries for me. I had my left knee done in January and after it healed most of the way, we did my right knee in June. They were both "simple" surgeries....meniscal repair, cartilage smoothing etc. However, my right knee never fully recovered. I walk with a cane when I leave the house and I can't walk very far. It's really painful. My ortho told me, no two knee surgeries are the same and he was right. I'd really think for awhile before getting the other knee done.

Izzy thank you so much for making an update!!!!! I had the same surgery on my right knee but I’m only 2 months post op so it’s nice that you’re a few months ahead so I can see what’s coming!! I’m glad you’re doing so well!

Your scars looks great! My newest shoulder scar from reconstruction goes from my collarbone to right next to my underarm. I am about 6 weeks out from surgery and it has been so mentally taxing. I hope you continue to improve. I always felt like the point where I can go a span of time without talking about surgery marks then point where things are getting better.

Looks good. I wish I could share pics of my scars with you. I had to have another surgery to remove a bump on my femar above the trochlear grove my patella was bumping over and causing pain so they had to do some more chondroplasty on my patella and cleaned up some of the scar tissue that had developed plus removal of the screws in my tibia. Hopefully this will get me over the pain hurdle and I can start building strength and get back to walking normally. Keep up your progress. Love your updates.

Currently Day 8 of my MPFL reconstruction and TTO on my right knee. I had an ACL repair on my left knee 4 years ago. Just reliving the pain and being unable to function sucks. Can’t wait to be done with recovery and 2022.

Thank you for chronicling your experience. I’m soon to have this procedure. The subway is hell in this condition! The supposed ADA-compliant stations and the missing or out of order elevators make it rough. Walking the stairs is so difficult.

I have patella Alta , knee caps are higher than normal . Luckily my knees don’t dislocate but I have been getting dull pain which is minimum. The doctors did mentioned the tibial procedure if I start experiencing dislocations but they stated sometimes it can make the knee far worse and it’s best saved as a last resort. I just subscribed so that I can continue to see how you progress. All the best to you, I love your positive spirit too. My knees don’t even dislocate but I feel depressed at times because of the pain.

Exactly my problem, i'm born with Patella alta....i had to take this surrgery because i wasn't able to walk more then 20 minutes...but my patella was already dislocated at that time...i almost fully recovered after 1 year and a half...i can run, walk stairs with no problems, do sports.....i'm still having a little issues with jumps that i am working on cause of my quad being still weak than the non operated leg...this surgery SAVED me....sadly the only thing that i can't do anymore is my best sport...martial arts :-(
@andrada17528 ай бұрын
I'm answering so late to this comment but I hope you're okay, whether you had the surgery or not! I'm also born with patella alta, but unfortunately at the first dislocation that could occure, my knees would just get stuck. I had only one dislocation and because of that, I needed surgery, because I couldn't bend my leg after it. I advise you to have surgery done beforehand, cause boy, did it hurt having a completely dislocated patella and then staying immobilized for a long period of time, getting really bad muscle atrophy. Hope you're doing well 🌸

Wow this is really nice to see! Had the exact procedures done! I’m a week to 4 months past surgery day. I haven’t been in pain but have been having trouble with knee stability still. It feels like it’s buckling and sometimes almost takes me down. Gahhhh! Wondering if you were having trouble with minor buckling/subluxations for the first several months after getting off crutches? When do you feel like you were walking comfortably and normally? This video made me feel less alone through this, so thanks:)

I'm so sorry you're still dealing with instability!! I'm still dealing with pain, but after the surgery I didn't have any instability and still don't. I would definitely recommend reaching out to your surgeon about the remaining instability

Hi my daughter 14 is really struggling with her scars and pretty much everything. This is her 3rd surgery she's had for her dislocated patella. The last 1 was the exact same surgery and for some reason it doesn't look like it worked. She had the surgery in December and she pretty much given up on her knee. She doesn't want to even do therapy anymore. We to live in NY and her doctor was at nyu. We have a follow up coming Friday and I'm scared to tell the dr she's basically given up on the knee. If possible can you give her some words of encouragement. I would really appreciate it.

I have the same issue at my both knees.... and i am trying to get prepared for the surgery probably in the end of the year.... oh... what a long journey will be... :) fingers crossed. I have one question.. I mean.. I was born this way... since I remember myself I have this knees... always jumping out of place... have you been also like this... or something happend... and your ligament just broke? now I am doin' my research about doctors and clinics in Europe... wich is a bit difficult... I was seeing more then 10 doctors... and only 2 of them gived me this diagnosis.... now i need to find the one on who I can put all my faith. thanks again for all the info. hope you will be fully recovered ASAP :)

Had this surgery too, ostheothomy cause of my patella instability (i can't walk more than 20 minutes at the time i decided for surgery), i was born like this, with Patella Alta...they called so if i recall correctly, after 1 year and half i'm 90% recovered, very low numbness feeling on the right of my scar...i ran 8KM yesterday without an issuee...have some issues on jumps 'cause my quad is still weak than the other one but i'm hard working on it...cyclette and stretching helps a lot in all the recovery process..i live in italy...

How long does it take to regain full range of motion ?
@IzzyKDNA4 жыл бұрын
it's very different for everyone. I was actaully very ahead when it came to full range of motion. i think i got it at like 4 months? I honestly don't fully remember.
@aviancag87164 жыл бұрын
Izzy Kornblau thanks for the response. Your right it does vary. I’m a month post op and I have 97% of my full range of motion back. All is passive. I do my exercises everyday once I got the go to start bending. There was no stopping me . But I also scar very badly. I’m my case bending as soon as possible was beneficial cuz I have had scar tissue collection from not being or cranking on my knee. So my medical team decided it was best to start ASAP. Which was rough. I’m still in my brace and crutches. PT three times a week. The MPFL area is so tinder.

Butterfly Tattoo thanks or the encouraging works. Your right things are getting better. Physical therapy, sucks and the scar tissue is trouble for me at the moment. How are you doing now ?
@butterflytattoo52014 жыл бұрын
@@aviancag8716 that's true. Fizio did suck. I have some scaring issues too but that has gotten better. But I do have swelling of my knee. It's not that bad but it sometimes iritatates 😣 And the numb parts are still waking up and it iches 😅 But overall now that the worst part is over I'm glad I did it. But thank God that only the left knee was the problem How about you? How is your progress? Hope it's going good 😊
@aviancag87164 жыл бұрын
Butterfly Tattoo thanks for your response! I’ve gotta better. It still hurts. Physical therapy hasn’t been too bad. I didn’t lose a lot of strength in my leg. I think it’s because I have stairs in my house. I have just about all my range of motion. Due to the fact I scar very badly! I’ve been on top of loosening the scar tissue with cupping , which also helps with swelling too. I’ve also been giving myself massages to keep swelling down with ace wrap. Bending has easy , cuz I keep the swelling down. I can bend enough to pain my toes 😁 I’m still on crutches and in a knee brace. I’m happy to hear your numb patch is waking up .
@butterflytattoo52014 жыл бұрын
The pain is going to be there for awhile. Yeah I have stairs to but since I wasn't allowed to step on my leg for 8 weeks it started to weaken. But it's getting where it's suppose to be😊

As long as you have a means of getting there like your own car and don't need to crutch far, then i'd say you probably could! As long as it's not a physical job ands you just need to sit down and can also ice your knee
