I need more of these. Was told at a young age that I dance like a dead girl so I never danced but at 28 my heart pumps like never before when I feel the beats of a great song I would love to just let loose to. I feel like it blocks me to my core. I am so inspired by dancers In general, feeling like I could never accomplish. Hey maybe I should sign up for steezy and document my journey. Anyone else?

Please do a video about how to be sharper and smoother while dancing
@SiSi-xg1hk4 жыл бұрын
Practice/Time/Patience, that's the tea, love
@zenbrooklyn3 жыл бұрын
Sharp, Staccato movements: hold and wait as long as you can before making the next move. The space/pause *between* moves is what makes it look sharp. For Legato smoothness, do the opposite and allow as little space as possible between moves. Let each move flow right to the next, like one long movement.
@xavierdurak32133 жыл бұрын
@@zenbrooklyn Oh my God thank you so much😊. I have actually been practicing a lot of hold & release exercises and that has helped me a lot and I'm definetly going to take your advice into consideration!. So thank you very much💜
@zenbrooklyn3 жыл бұрын
@@xavierdurak3213 hey friend you are most welcome! 🤗😊 Here's a fun Challenge for you: Create 8 counts of movement. Make sure to include several 'and' counts on the downbeats, as well as a few simple moves right on the beat. (Something that sounds kinda like "1-2-3-and-uh-4, 5-and-6, 7-and-8" when you count it out). Now work on executing those counts in both ways: sharp and then smooth. Think "pop locking" and snap into the sharp moves after feeling that pause I mentioned, then think "ballet" and bend through the smooth moves. Use your Core and Breath to fuel your movement! And keep me posted lol Xo 🤗😘

For me I feel most confident doing hip hop in super baggy clothes, especially if they cover my arms because arms are definitely what can give away uncomfortable dancing. I used to wear tight fitting clothes (like leggings) to dance all the time as well and couldn’t understand why I felt so uncomfortable until I went in a baggy hoodie and joggers and it made a huge difference
@Mwilke37892 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! As a classically trained ballet dancer I decided to concentrate in Hip Hop when I did a Broadway Dance Center semester. I wish someone had told me to wear "hip-hop" clothes and shoes! It's one of the reasons I couldn't get out of ballet brain mode. I was wearing a leotard, baggy pants, and jazz sneakers ugh...
@Serenmeraki4 жыл бұрын
I always thought I was the weird one feeling uncomfortable dancing those powerful and groovy moves unless I'm in my baggy clothes, now I'm so relieved that the matter wasn't with me lmaoo

I don't know if sharing this will help anyone but it's working for me. When I train at home, I handicap myself by wear clothes that doesn't have or is opposite of the feels of the dance I am training, then when I go to class dressed properly, it's like woah. I find that handicapping myself forces me to dig deep to find the groove within. Thanks Steezy for the cool dance tips always! I've been having trouble with facial expressions so this video is so helpful!

This all points are very important always keep in mind - Many of begginer dances with more legs moves & footwork and egnore hand ,arm movement ,and after a long time ,they find their dance incomplete . So , remeber always focus on hand and arm movement and face direction too . This will make your dance complete

The fourth one got me because as a Waacking practitioner, I recently learned that I was "overdancing" by flailing my arms like crazy and going super fast instead of listening to the beat and grooving with the music.

@elizychler90964 жыл бұрын
To be able to show energy in your dance, you need to look like you are enjoying and vibing with the song. Make use of your whole body, emphasize footworks and hand movements, and also utilize the space by moving around, doing jump moves, floorwork, etc. It's also important that you are sure of your movements and your transition from one move to another is clean, so that you'll look confident.

0:40 You don't know what to do with your hands. 1:15 You're not wearing clothes that compliment your dance style. 2:11 You're not dancing with your face. 2:58 You think faster and more complex dance movements means better dancing.
