I have MS and I’m so glad I found your channel! I’ve been doing intermittent fasting and have eliminated all processed food, sugars and went low carb (no breads, pastas, starchy vegetables, etc) and wasn’t sure if it was safe (intermittent fasting), but after seeing your videos I’m more confident that I’m on the right path. I’ve lost 42 lbs and my blood sugar levels are consistently going down. My energy level has improved tremendously, I haven’t had anymore headaches or body aches, I feel my concentration and focus has also improved. I’ve also started doing yoga and meditation. Finding your channel is an absolute plus!!!

4:34 drat, I've had MS for 45 years and I've had no discernible disease activity for fifteen years and I'm not doing any of this stuff! My bad, and today 's the day. Imma up my water game, spend a mindful minute, be more responsible about my sleep. I don't eat processed food so I've got that going for me! Thanks, Dr. B, you're the BEST@🎉❤🎉🎉❤❤❤

Lack of adequate good quality sleep is one thing that I can point to that definitely brings on my symptoms or causes them to be worse the next day. Sleep is like medicine to me! Thank you for this, and all your other videos ! ❤

Thank you so much for your plain-language insights, Dr. Boster. What I find, more than anything, is that the practices that I always knew I "should do," but don't, are now the things I *must do* if I want to function. Sleep, exercise, good food, and lots of water would help a LOT of people. But they are exponentially more significant in the context of this disease, and it's a huge help to hear you cite with authority the things we really ought to know. After a long decade of general tiredness, the huge aggressive relapse that finally got me diagnosed left me feeling like an 80 year old. But with grandparents who lived into their 90s, and no shortage of high-profile people in the media doing the same, I can see the difference between people who are bedridden in their 80s, and people who live healthy vibrant lives despite far greater fatigue, both physical and mental, than a healthy 40-year-old would have. If I've suddenly aged 40 years over the course of a month, I'm determined to do all I can to live like the healthy, active 80-year-old, and not the other kind.

Another great video Aaron, thank you💙 I cut out processed foods, bad fats etc and now try to cook all my food from scratch, with single ingredient foods and minimally processed foods. I use this cooking and meal prep time to practice my mindfulness. But my sleep hygiene sucks and water intake could definitely be better, so I guess I’m being double dog dared 😂

Thank you for giving doctors advice that I want to hear from a doctor!! I am so tired of hearing about all the fantastic medical interventions or all the scientific breakthoughs that will lead to new fantastic medical treatments. I have chosen not to use them as long as they target my body and not the enemy. Until then I must trust what I can do myself with food and lifestyle.

I have definitely improved my sleep score, water intake and unprocessed foods is a work in progress, and mindfulness is a journey that I take every day (I practice it every day in my own way to get it done)

I've had MS for 28 years ,first I appreciate your channel and from experience I do not eat fast food,or highly processed foods.I cook my own meals and I stay away from pork sausage and pork roasts because I've learned the hard way that it does effect me in a very bad way,I avoid stress the best I can and yes,sleep is essential,I avoid heat for long periods of time

Ive never slept well. Usually 24 to 36 hours up 10 to 12 hours sleep rinse and repeat. Not in the 48 to 72 hr thing i did for a while . Its not that i dont try to sleep . I lay down at the regular times ,just dont sleep.

Great video!! I have a hard time eating right because good food is hard to prepare. When cooking is difficult, convenience is too tempting.

It's hard to cook when you can't stand for very long, isn't it? I have a stool in my kitchen, but I can't sit to cook; I'm too short. I feel you.

Getting enough sleep is so hard. There's so much light and noisepollution everywhere. My life goal is to live far from big cities. The rest is easier, because it's basically up to me. ( Except every time I try to practise mindfulness some helicopter or emergency vehicle or whatever comes along to distract me..)

Thanks for the tips, Dr. Boster. I do pretty well with the foods I eat, but I certainly need to do better at getting consistent 8+ hours of sleep and reaching the 100 ounces of water/day. And it’s a must that I make a priority to practice mindfulness…I’m sure that all of these routines will be extremely beneficial. Thanks again!

I’m a woman 110 lbs and drink 64 ozs of water every day, almost there. How much sleep I got the night before is my strongest indicator of a good day or a bad day. Sleep/water/movement/food are medicine for sure for me. With a side of Tysabri.

I'm a woman who was diagnosed in January 2021. I'm on Tysabri too! I was already a very healthy eater, but I stopped working night shifts once I got my diagnosis. I sleep much better now and haven't had any real flare-ups over the last two years! I hope you are doing well! ❤️

Everything is a Chemical... Seriously, If I broke down all of the constituent parts of an Apple and listed them in an ingredient list, most people would struggle to pronounce or understand them. I prefer to state instead, "Shop the outside of the grocery store and avoid the stuff in a box or a can." Instead of fearmongering on "Chemicals!" The other side of this struggle is the energy required to prepare foods from a raw state to a prepared state (Despite the raw food movement, many nutrients in plants are locked away until we cook them) This is what may drive people with MS to choose a prepared option for food. Mindfulness I get on my walks with my dog. He's been a great boon to my life, as you stated in your video regarding dogs and MS... Just walking him, watching him, wandering around the neighborhood and not thinking about anything else... so relaxing. 🥰 Water, Since I was always active before MS, I was constantly drinking nice clear plain water. I have a 32oz bottle I usually drink at least 4 of a day. :D

100 fl oz is about 2800ml (2.8l) just for those of us in other countries. 120 fl oz is about 3500ml (3.5l). This is approximate not exact. Great advice. I thought I was doing ok at 2l but need to up it again. The other 3 I'm not bad at.

I love your channel and am most grateful for you!! I see a neurologist at the end of the month. I am hoping to have an official diagnosis soon. I have many symptoms but I struggle to sleep because of back and leg pain/spasms. I have tingling in my feet and legs below my knees. I can't stand or walk for long because of the pain in my back, legs and buttocks. My lifestyle has drastically changed in the past few years because of physical disability. I'm typically an active person. I am hopeful once I'm receiving treatment I'll feel better and will be more able as my condition will be managed. Do you agree and do you have any advice for me for when I have my initial appointment with my neurologist?

Just came across your series recently, so helpful. I was investigated nearly 30 years ago with lots of odd symptoms, the main ones altered sensations in my hands and feet and severe balance problems. At that time an LP showed oligoclonal bands but not in blood and lesions in brain on MRI but was actually diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? Again being re-investigated currently for MS with same symptoms only worse, I now have to use a cane, I have severe sleep problems, altered sensation over my lower back, upper back, neck and face, spasticity in my feet, pain, bowel and bladder issues and I’m still being told by Neurologists that it may not be MS????

Fire your neurologist and get a new one - or double dog dare the one you have now to put you on Ocrevus or Tecfidera. There's no point in you declining while he watches! If he refuses to, tell him you want you're request and his refusal noted in your file AND a copy of your records sent to your PCP. That should light a fire under him. Best wishes and good luck!

72years old PPMS 23 years, still sort of mobile lol. The only thing i probably dont do enough of its mindfulness. I can sit and switch off for a bit but then my brain wants to go off and look up something lol. so i will try harder with that one. i dont have a T.V. in my sitting room. Only time i watch t.v. is on my smart t.v. in the bedroom for 1.5 hours then i go sleep by 8pm latest. no i dont sleep all night no chance up for potty breaks but i never ever turn any media on. i do the job then go back to sleep so i average about 7.5 to 8 hours a night. i am going to send this to a few of my friends as i know non of them do any of the 4 things you mention. x

I am so guilty of barely drinking. I need help transferring back to my wheelchair and I don’t like “bothering” people to help me back across the transfer board. I can’t figure out how to successfully transfer myself. My electric wheelchair is 5-6 inches taller. Toilet seat risers don’t work out.

Thank you very much for your useful content and valuable information. It helps me a lot. I hope to have enough restorative sleep, but I feel insomnia and suffer a lot to be able to sleep, and also I am a medical student and I have a lot of studying and exams, and this also makes me not sleep much sometimes I go to university and only sleep for two hours and spend 7 or 8 hours in the university but what I have to do I’m so upset I can't balance between MS, college, and my daily life😢💔

@@heisenberg1601 I always remind my self that there’s nothing important as my health so l used to not compare myself with other students because my situation is different i have alot of difficulties as a MS patient so exams even they are important for my future this doesn’t mean i have to push myself too hard because if i do that eventually my body will let me down so at least try to not care about the results whatever it’s bad or good and I hope your health will be better🙏🏻

I got 3.5 hours of sleep last night. I need 9-10, but my body isn’t cooperating. We’re working on eating better, eating a more vegetarian diet like we used to. The constantly barking and howling dog next door makes meditation a challenge. And I can’t seem to get my body out of dehydration. I simply can’t drink enough.

I FORGET to drink and eat and have a prewarning of an episode due to sudden rapid weight loss. (This current MS round, weight loss is now @ 31#! Horrifying!) Also have such nerve pain in legs, it is difficult to sleep while in the throws of an 'episode'. When I DO sleep soundly, it mimics death-actually wake up suddenly with a severe headache from NOT breathing! I am very active, have a farm surrounded by woods, so staying present is a daily ritual. I would also like to add here, that taking Evening Primrose oil capsules every day truly helps with myelin destruction/symptoms during a flare. It eases pain AND brain fog.

Hi Georgene! The doctor might answer but I thought I would add a note bc I've drastically changed my diet and lifestyle due to Dr. Boster and Dr. Jamnadas- an amazing cardiologist, also with awesome free videos on KZbin. Dr. Boster was not kidding by "single ingredient" foods, those are whole foods. When you buy fresh chicken thighs, breasts, etc, look at the ingredients, the list is *one* word, "chicken". Buy any frozen food with chicken, like chicken nuggets and the list of ingredients is a paragraph of junk, and many words I can't pronounce- that stuff is garbage in your body. Awesome single food ingredients are bought on the perimeter of the store. You know what they are, fruits, vegetables, meat from and near the butcher counter and perimeter. Fish, chicken, beef, turkey, lamb. For salads, Don't add a rich dressing with tons of salt and sugar (like most have) the best is also my new Favorite, just pour some Extra Virgin Olive oil on your salads! *Super foods* There are many look them up, some favorite examples: Salmon (best when wild caught, better than "farm raised"), broccoli, avocadoes, sweet potatoes, blue berries, most nuts. So many goodies, look at the ingredients, just one word, for example "Brussel sprouts" are just... Brussel sprouts. :) Bananas are just bananas.. not processed food that have a hundred ingredients and one of the them is banana puree. Apples are just apples, one word, very healthy. I would also encourage looking up "Gut Biome" ( Kefir is Great for that) and "Intermittent Fasting". Better eating is better for M.S. and better for Everything- including your heart and blood pressure. ❤

Just eat fresh, real foods, not products in boxes. Also, check out the carnivore diet for autoimmune diseases. You'll find a lot of videos on KZbin. Look for Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Ken Berry, and Dr. Paul Mason.

Dr. B, thanks! Can a person get ms and fibromyalgia at the same time? 43 years ago, Dx with Reactive Arthritis. 2 weeks ago I was told that the Reactive Arthritis had resolved itself and I’m much more likely to have fibromyalgia Does fibromyalgia cause lesions that show up on MRI? I’m pretty sure it doesn’t!

Using your tip (from another video) of consuming most of the day’s water earlier in the day, I have got my sleep up to 6 hours per night, and sometimes in one unbroken stretch. Any tips on how to increase it from 6, please? Also, what would be the 5th thing: being overweight? Insufficient exercise?

1. 2. & 3. I'm good at, but of 4. I have no concept. I'm not sure that I am capable not to think about what it was and what it might be next, not comply. Athleast some song will play in my head. Or are that those moments where for a moment I forget where I am and what was I suppose to do? 🤔😂

Thanks Dr for the video and all of the information I get from you.. Does a PPms have no pyramid flip -as explained by professor Giovannini _and my progression will lead me to be disabled? ..this been said by both my neurologist and my professor "not for you",they said it to me..😢

I understand we are supposed to get sleep. But what if we can't? Ms can cause insomnia. Got any suggestions?
