I’m a big fan of Irene’s work and her videos helped me find somatic work and that lead me to become trauma-informed as a personal trainer. I see it with clients that they want to take on so much real quick and it takes time to learn that less is more and it serves them better in the long run. And it’s about doing fitness while regulating the nervous system while lots of trainers don’t understand how dysregulating it can be if they force clients to do things that they are fearful of. Thank you again Irene for educating people and spread knowledge!!!!

I spent decades trying to heal my trauma, and couldn't figure out why I was unable to overcome certain pieces. Recently I discovered that I'm also autistic, and that a fair bit of what I'd ascribed to trauma was in fact autism. From my research, it's become apparent that neurodivergence in adults is vastly under-diagnosed, and it makes me wonder how many people stuck in their healing are also contending with unrecognized autism.

Have you noticed that today everyone is labelled? Traumas swept under the rug in a whole new way - 'they have something wrong with them' ... I'd reconsider the criteria you were told means you aren't normal. Trauma is Trauma, even the Buddha over 2, 550 years ago knew trauma existed!

Very true. I’m autistic to. That said, to be neurodivergent in our society is inherently traumatising, so I do think there’s an added need for us to engage in this work and find out for ourselves (in our body) what regulation feels like and to work through those additional layers of trauma that intensity our already difficult experience

I so ❤ your work Irene and the way you share it with the world. This video is golden. I'm sooo greatful for the day I was reading comments below video related to the narcistic matrix and one good soul mentioned your name 🙏 My life really changed since. I'm 21day tune up person (a bit slow to my liking) and looking forward to the moment when abundance will hit me, so I can join SBSM. Thank you for all your studies, work and life experiences. Greetings from Prague, Czech republic & God bless you 🌹🍀🌞

So much of this resonates with me, but in particular, thinking well into adulthood that I had a happy childhood. What did I have to complain about, especially since my older siblings had it so much worse? Eventually I realized I was raised and disciplined with toxic shame, guilt, and silent treatment and am still coming to grips with the legacy of this emotional abuse. I am also disillusioned by many alternative healing modalities I've tried, but have a good feeling about SBSM. I look forward to working with you!

Goodness yes, I am burned out on working on healing - especially when the deeper I go, the more I feel my life is labeled "traumatic" more than I realized. And my autoimmune issues worsen with more "healing" work. I have seen this also with others but so far the 5 min a day even with a map, not much has changed.

That’s why I say that I’m trying to survive in a traumatised world. I grew up with poverty and neglect and that was bad but my worst stress has always been all the people that attacked my authenticity, that insulted me for saying things that were obvious but just that they were in denial of to not “wake up to themselves”. These gogogo people have the upper hand in this world while the “neurodivergent” labelled ones are emotionally dying or needing to leave society. Or worse: need a label to be understood. I grew up neglected (and I don’t deny that pain) but at least I wasn’t raised becoming self-alienated and lost and kill authenticity.

I have been going through a lot of witnessing of my own anger in response to my voice and opinions being shouted at/ pushed down. Recovering from the chronic PTSD while still going through it as an adult I think because when the anger was repressed I had severe endometriosis as part of that.

"Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished"~Lao Tzu.... Thank You for these observations...I have witnessed and experienced some of them to various degrees~~~ And just so happens..I was discussing the topic of anger with a friend the other day...I 'feel' our culture could benefit greatly by discussing and developing useful ways of expressing anger...Because again...I feel it can't be conceptually talked out of 'your system' there needs to be a physical expression release....and obviously without violence... Ummm...'I have a Dream"!~~~ I may also share the inquiring thought I actually had this morning.....and that was...'Does evolution have a regressive quality?'.... don't know 'where' that thought came from but it has been an interesting contemplation.....😌

For me it is not more more more. It is more about finding the right fit. Most body therapists have an agenda and don’t attune, so I move on. I keep a base with a somatic practioner, and body work I am experimenting. The good one are rare. And even if good, sometimes it is too much too soon. ,….. Does it make sense

Did you know that your trauma disappears any time you are mindlessly present in the moment? The same way all trauma disappears when you are in deep sleep? And did you know that the more you practice being mindlessly present in the moment, simply Being, the happier and freer you are? How much effort and understanding have you invested into being mindlessly present in the moment vs trying to heal from trauma with therapy, watching videos and thinking and talking about it?

Trauma is the experience of the past maintained in the present. To be present simply means to be present with all the layers of survival/racing thoughts/disregualtion etc

@@Cglay-fw5ti"Trauma is the experience of the past maintained in the present" You simply cant maintain the experience of the past if you are Present in the now. You may not realize what it is to be truly present, absent of all thought, absent of all self-reference, absent of all stories, absent of all time, just here, now, beholding what is in front of you, as it is, not naming anything you see, not thinking about anything you see, simply witnessing what is in your field of vision, as pure conscious awareness. In this space, trauma doesnt exist, the past doesnt exist, the future is not being worried about. You have answered quickly, but you have not comprehended what is implied by my initial comment. Just finding you…and i love what i am hearing, but it’s getting overwhelming. I have been diagnosed with functional neurological disorder. I have symptoms of Parkinson’s and i have episodes of paralysis. What would be a first step for me to find help, so that i wont turn off the information because of it seeming so daunting? I know i have childhood trauma. And i know it has affected my chronic health issues…i just dont know how to fix it.

@Mousiemich, Jen here from Irene's Team. I hear that this nervous system approach is resonating with you, and it also feels like a lot. There are a few ways you can start small. One would be to choose a resource such as the one I'll link to below and make it a habit for a while. Another would be to sign up for Irene's 21 Day Nervous System Tune Up - it's a self study course that you can explore in your time, in your way. You also have the opportunity to ask questions about your course experience and have them answered by trained moderators (who are also nervous system practitioners). I'll share a link to that too if you'd like to check it out. And working with a trained nervous system practitioner is another option, and one that can be complementary to engaging with Irene's educational offerings. 4 Simple Steps to Calm Overwhelm - irenelyon.com/4-steps-to-calm-overwhelm/ 21 Day Nervous System Tune Up - 21daytuneup.com/

It's not a one size fits all solution. I have been at this for decades and many people promise they can fix it, for $5000, but no one has and then blame the client because they just want attention and don't really what to be healed. So many advertise all the miracles but I wonder how many people go through the programs with no positive results. Everyone thinks they have the solutions but when you have tried it and it doesn't work they don't want to hear it. I am very annoyed CBT has become the standard of treatment even though it fixes nothing. I had a few therapists tell me that and heard from world class experts who said it isn't effective, but our healthcare system made it the most common practice. Even a therapist who said it didn't work is now using it. Telling people they think wrong when you don't know what has happened to them is discouraging to the client and makes them think they are defective when it doesn't work.
