Thank you for saying this! I am tired of hearing people say that it is so immature of the INFJ to door slam others. We do not want to. All we want is the best for others, but when we see no progress we just let go for good. We cannot change anyone, and we do not want to carry more unnecessary burdens.

Excellent point. That is one of the things I'm hoping to teach on this channel. There are people that we just can't "fix". Give people a chance but be ready to move on - and do your best to keep from giving them your energy! Jay

Yes, I have "door slammed" a few people, but I make sure to give them many chances to change first.
@DTheHAge Жыл бұрын
It's also never a door slam. It's trying to make them understand that specific behaviors are not bearable for an unusual long time. That's the reason why people think it's a door slam, because INFJs tend to leave the door open way too long. In reality the relationship (of any type) ended long before people recognize the door slam. It's just the last resort of the INFJ. A door slam of the most shy and introvert INFJ looks like this: 1. less to no reaction to behavior that's not bearable 2. negative reaction to this behavior in form of facial expressions (if you ignore someone's facial expressions, you door slammed, in my opinion) 3. not opening up anymore (here the trust is usually that hard broken that the relationship needs to be rebuilt) 5. having less time for the person (this is already the break up process) 6. replying less to texts (still break up) 7. ignoring the person (this is called the door slam) These steps often take months, because the INFJ gives way more chances than most do.

Yep. It's only happened 2X in my 40+ years. I won't reject people at the point so many would, I wait will they have doubly proven they are irredeemable and then cut everything off and not be concerned with them knowing why because they've already known their behaviour was despicable

My boss had everyone take the test in 1991. I've known I am an INFJ since that day. I went home & started learning more about my test results. I remember crying. FINALLY there I was in black & white & on paper! I wasn't crazy after-all. A lot of life has happened since then. I can tell you, at 60 years old, I am still an INFJ but I have become more of a loner. It's easier for my health. Unfortunately, I dislike people immensely. Because I am honest, faithful & keep others secrets, I haven't met another individual who reciprocates & it has caused me to have zero trust in anyone. I keep everything close to my chest. I've stopped letting people in to my world. I'm so happy being alone, writing, researching, exploring. With age, my intuition has grown exponentially. I can literally feel situations coming, before they show themselves. I am a Christian woman & my faith along with knowing I'm an INFJ has allowed me to live a fulfilling, yet humble life.

I learned the hard way not to give unsolicited advice anymore. I also believe we INFJs have a natural talent for "observing ego" (which is the scientific definition of being a "cool" person). Like a counselor type, observing ego skill is saying and doing the right things, at the right time.

We fix many problems mentally before doing it physically, this is why we are exhausted around too many people. We can adjust to whoever is speaking to us easily. We observe social cues quickly. Face expressions give away what someone is truly feeling inside.

I’m currently experiencing the “door slam” with my abusive partner after years of second chances. Once I realized his behaviour is a language and he’s telling me that he doesn’t respect me or my boundaries, then it just clicked in my head that this isn’t a “relationship”. Others have been telling me for years, but I had to come to that conclusion on my own.

Maybe we should try asking if they need help before helping them. Some people are very distrusful and I can't blame them. Psychopaths and narcissists have often asked for help to their victims (Ted Bundy). We live in a very individualistic societies to the point that offering help migh feel suspicious.

INFJs are highly intuitive and sensitive to their environment . They can also be in tune to other worldly energies.Because of their "external feeling". Capacity. ( This aspect is linked to their introverted (internal capacity) and their extroverted (external capacity). As our awareness expands in these realities and concepts. An INFJ who is spiritual and believes in a spirit world will sense things that most people can't. Which is why they get those psychic labels.

It's strange cause when i was younger, I knew nothing about psychology, and when I was in college I thought anyone majoring in psycholgy was a nut. I had a cousin who is a psychologist as well and thought she was out of her mind. I didn't think much about others' personalisties happily doing my thing, being in my own little world, but had lots of friends and acquaintances like an extrovert. I didnt' compare this and that and did not understand human very common traits. Now I'm even better than a psychologist, better than those who have even created gaming, or online monitoring people, or collecting retail info, and all those things an INFJ do, I automatically do without even realizing, until I found out I was an INFJ about 4 years ago. Up til then, I didn't even know there was such thing as MBTI. I will say that we could be a great scientist because we can carry out behaviorial experiments, introducing something, and watching responses, and certain reactions or unresponsive actions can have inconclusive results but we will have hypothesis in those cases based upon pattern recognition and common human traits. You are spot on about us.

I jokingly say I’m a misanthropic philanthropist. But it’s sort of true. I’ve just not met many of the good people of the world. As far as the door slam, to me it seems like a defense mechanism. I’ve made the choice to not be around certain people. But the door slam is involuntary. Feelings are there one minute and gone the next. No choice was made it’s just suddenly that person is nothing to me. I’ve seen INFJs online say, “Should I door slam this person?” They’re talking going “no contact” in my opinion. Whereas a true door slam happens involuntarily.

News, culture, history, intuition, norms , abnormalities, lack of news, remember, knowledge, shortcuts, study, research, even religions and Biblical texts are some of the ways we gather information and speaking to people. Science rarely contributes. Not psychic we stay informed. Helping people anymore is my choice backed up by many questions. Does the person need help or only wants you to listen? Do I want to get involved? Are their other resources for their issue? How are they dressed? Time? Finances? Are they capable of repaying? Especially with young people. Have they had the issue before? Do they have tattoos? What kind of tattoos? Are they lying? Look into their eyes. Look for tells in face, mannerisms, speech and friends. Big red flag especially with younger people. What have they said before? Another red flag. Am I intruding on what God has to teach them? Etc etc. Ideally confession is good for the soul. Can the person say their sorry. Apologize in another words. Do you suspect something is a miss in speech, actions, mannerisms, friends, family, faith, and follow through. We may seem slow in action because we want perfection from ourselves. However we don’t demand that perfection from others. Once suspicion enters our computer minds we binging the process of examining our conclusions. Can be done by saying hello to someone.
