Today my friends at Stihl brought me 4 cool new pieces of equipment along with a AR 3000 L backpack battery!
This setup will be perfect for me to have in the truck while on landscaping jobs. The tools are powerful and have amazing run time. I’ll be sure to film while I use them and let you guys know my thoughts!

I love the Stihl battery equipment. I started my first lawn care company this summer. Im solo and only do houses in my town right now (1/4-1/2 Arce) as a weekend warrior. I have the RMA510 21" mower, FSA90R trimmer, KMA130R Kombi with the blower, edger, brush cutter, power broom and hedge trimmer attachments and was lucky enough to get one of the first MSA300 chainsaws at my STIHL dealer in Canada . I went with two AP300S and two AP500S batteries with a AL300 charger. I also use the new Milwaukee M18 3600watt power station. So I can charge in all my batteries anywhere. Most of my clients have come from mower a yard close by and they come ask for a quote because of how much quieter cordless power equipment is. Stihl makes a great product

Thank bro. This help. I am about to start my own lawn care a few days a week. I am in CA and can’t use Gas. Looking at what brand can be dependable Ego, Echo, Toro, green works. I think Sthil is the band and this backpack system is a must.

Good video Blake. Look forward to seeing the reviews and the real world runtime. I was literally at the shop about two weeks ago talking to an Echo rep at the local dealer saying this battery backpack with attachments was the future in the electrical arena. He just kinda laughed it off. I had no idea this was in the works or getting so close to release. The amusing thing was one of the head mechanics with over 20 years of experience in the shop was standing there and he said if you want Echo to do it just let Stihl come up with the idea first and they will copy like they always do.

Stihl is coming out with a new backpack battery blower. It doesn't appear to work with the AR 2000/3000 backpack batteries, only the newer AR 2000/3000 L batteries. Are we older Stihl battery customers going to have to buy a new style battery now?

Husqvarna makes a professional battery line of equipment. Just from going to the dealerships and trying both the KMA 130r (Stihl Battery Kombi) and the 325 ILK (Husqvarna Battery Combi), I have come to the conclusion that I prefer the Husqvarna to the Stihl. My reasoning is Husqvrnas has batteries that go into the tools kinda like having gas in the tank on a gas trimmer where Stihl uses a cord and either a backpack of some sort of a battery belt. I get that putting the battery on a pack or on a battery belt allows for the tool to be well balanced and lighter. But I feel that Husqvarnas equipment is also very well balanced with the battery being on the tool and just as light as the gas trimmers we are using already. Husqvarna also has the option for backpack batteries if someone needed more runtime between charges, for example, if you were going to be trimming on a property for a few hours. Where Stihl Forces the operator to be tethered to the tool, Husqvarna offers a tether free way of operating the equipment, which is what we as operators are used to. I feel that for residential mowing batteries that insert into the tool are the way to go, as we know, time is money and putting on a battery backpack every time you have to weed eat a yard that takes five or ten minutes twenty times a day is tedious, and costs time. Whereas having the ability to insert the battery directly into the tool allows the operator to quickly go from mowing to weed eating the same as they would a gas trimmer. If you have several properties that require lots of trimming, edging, etc. a battery backpack would be the way to go because you are getting the extra runtime, but wearing a massive battery on your back with either system will get tiring. With that being said, I do like that Stihl has more attachments that go on the powerhead than the Husqvarnas such as Stihl has the bed redefiner attachment, something I wish Husqvarna would add to their selection of Combi attachments. As far as charging personally, I have a couple hundred watts of solar panels on top of my 8.5x16 enclosed trailer on a track running across the width of the roof, so it is effortless to throw another panel up there if I need more power to be produced. Deep cycle marine batteries inside to store the energy, and an inverter to convert DC to AC.

The problem I could see with all those tools. There are all designed to use internal battery. Balance is completely different with empty battery slot and backpack. Any serious user should wait for tools specifically designed to use with back pack power/ external power. Ergonomics must be completely different. Since I am interested mainly in electric chainsaw, removing 1.7kg from the weight make huge difference. But also connection cable must be relocated from this top random position to one most efficient for backpack. Why do we need to wait another year or two for completely new set of tools utilizing obvious back pack power? Obviously price of backpacks will fall dramatically, but even temporary for now simple extension lead should allow to use traditional internal battery,. moved to anytype back pack. To be fair I am even considering using Stihl tools and ordinary electric bike 36V batteries, which are already reasonably priced. So all we need is electric tools like a chainsaw designed to use DC external power from back pack. Even small tools like drills wlll find more enthusiast when battery can be removed and then attached with small extension/ connection lead. Weight, size of tools drops significally,
